The lowest paid median salary for teachers in grade school is just $852.00 above an Arby's general manager's median salary. I guess that's technically a step above.

despite what it says the median is HEAVILY influenced by experience. starting salary is shit, less than 30K but it grows next 20-30 years

In the district I work, the starting salary for a BA is 36,000 plus 11% into the state retirement system. Plus stipends and performance pay.

i think thats higher than average district. 36K is still lacklustre and skilled academics will not choose that route if economy is a concern

It's not a large amount, but it's livable. We are a central Phoenix district, very low income population.
