No, the original masks(capgrossos) are 150 years old, so might be militar/naval inspired but their name is nans vells (old dwarfs/old children). Capgrossos( big heads) are quite common in catalan festivities and their faces might be insipred by any theme.

Only 20 mins away from me! I only went once when I was about 18 & fondly remember my mate getting his leg hairs burnt off when the guy dropped the barrel and it rolled into the crowd. Good times.
