When I see a kid fall, my first reaction is to laugh. There really isn't a filter anymore. There used to be...
After a 5 year old boy and a 2 year old girl, (the latter is hell bent to prove Newton wrong) I have lost my filter.
I genuinely don't want to see a kid hurt, but most falls are insubstantial and my reaction dictates the kids reaction.
My wife and I laugh, and clap, and then I ask , "are we bad parents for laughing?" The answer is no. There are so many other reasons we are bad parents, not that one though.

When I'm around a kid who falls, I shout, "you found the ground! Now I did, too!" and flip over, myself. They think it's HILARIOUS.

I did this with my son. It stops them from freaking out when it doesn't really hurt, and helps distract them when it does.

If you gasp the kid tends to tense and that's how they bruise more easily. It's good to not respond with high negative emotion! Laugh away!
