Clone Wars itself was pre-disney you muppet. Rebels and CW Season 7 are the only Disney Era Clone Wars animated. Rebels ended quite well too

The reason for that is cause only the character design of Grievous existed at the time, no voice, personality, etc. So they made it all up.

Yes. Thankfully, this particular animated series showed that Mace was the force behind that injury and wheezing. Made EPIII much better.
