I love the vietnamese sandwiches. You can get them in San Francisco, so cheap and delicious

Been around the world and Vietnam is still one of my most favorite destinations. So beautiful and so vastly different.

Eggs cooked like what?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Idlis. Idli is a south indian dish.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thanks dude. I was lazy to find something that would resonate with English audience. You can think of them as mini steamed egg pancakes

Been in vietnam for 1 day now, love it! Stayed in backpacker ghetto last night. Crossing the street in rush hour = crazy

Leave Bui Vien asap. You can keep your hostel, but please venture forth.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Travelled Vietnam 2 years ago, and loved every minute. Constantly surprised at how different each part of the country was from each other.

The burning thrash one the street Sides was a little bummer for me tho

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

kinda fuck up but i think it’s better to burn thrash on the side then dumping it into the ocean

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite part was the street food. Had the best pho I've ever had at the My Tho night fishmonger trade. Sat on a children's plastic chair

I always wanted to go because if I ever wanted to refer back to the trip, I could say “back in Nam”.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I loved Vietnam. The food was incredible and it was so beautiful. Plus, jokes all day about the currency, dong!!!

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's a great place to visit, hot as heck but still worth it.

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Hot as heck? I live in Hexas. Is it worse than that?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s humid here so it’s slightly different. But temperatures are similar.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Humidity is death in terms of heat. The dead valley is easier to endure than any jungle in southeast asia

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think averages in SE asian are generally higher than the averages in Texas.

Interesting and aesthetically pleasing, +1!

Lovely! How were the people OP?

10 reasons to go to Vietnam:

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Food, beautiful rural areas, anachronistic feels, living like kings on $10 a day for food, temples, food, food, food, beaches, architecture

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously, there’s a lot of euro-friendly Viet foods. Also the cuisine is lacto-ovo-vegetarian friendly.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Although you’ll come to realize that vegan/vegetarian pho is entirely a Western construction

I was recently in Vietnam for 2 weeks and the first few days were awful. The trip was nice in the end but there is a lot that was not.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Can tell the same story. Spent to many days in Hanoi (the city is a little bit shitty), but afterwards the trip got nicer. But I have to (1)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

say, that the people in other south eastern Countries seem to be nicer/friendlier. (2)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Saigon is great to visit and main areas are clean. The northern capital is a lot dirtier. I’m a fan of central and south Vietnam.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We also did a south to north vietnam trip! The cities were fun but the villages were so much better. Hue was overrated though.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ha long Bay looks nice from a distance but it is very dirty with plastic bags and garbage floating around. They throw everything in water :(

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My parents went past year. They were on the Mekong delta and some guy came up in a boat with his dead wife, they had turned them away 1/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From the hospital because they didnt have the money for her treatment and now he didnt have gas money to get home. He was very upset and 2/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only talked to the tour guide who gave him a couple bucks to get home. Told everyone after they had moved on. My parents were very upset 3/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When they found out. Put a downer on most of their trip 4/4

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I visited a lot of these places in 2013. Thanks for the pics! Did you use a guide company or just do it yourself?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We planned it off the internet. Asked friends who had travelled before. Don't trust the internet. 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People on tripadvisor get easily scared apparently that's what we realise. 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ha, that’s good to know. We used a guide service and that kept the trip moving along well.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At one point we were on our own and then we started missing buses, getting lost, etc. All part of the adventure.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's all fun!

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

That's all I have to say about that.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't call it Ho Chi Minh city, I'd call it Saigon.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Depends on political outlook people from the north or people with strong government ties to call it HCMC if you smoke weed it’s Saigon??

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Actually, they call it both. Call it what pleases you.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I understand they call it both. I do call it what pleases me. I don't know if there are any hostilities in your reply. Ho Chi Minh was bad.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Haha! No man. My reply was just meant to be informative. No hostilities.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why was Ho Chi Minh bad?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tried to bring communism to Vietnam, never did, sent thousands to die in the V. War, was entirely absent as leader of North Vietnam.
