If I recall correctly he just wrapped a wire around a steel rod then took clippers and snipped off each ring and then hooked them together.

Did you essentially make a big tube + smaller tubes for arms? Try making a mantle (round enough to drape over your shoulders) more comfy IMO

6 in one is pretty much exactly the same pattern, just more rings, but the extra weight isn't really worth it

Other than 6 point was considered better protection that only lords and higher had; maybe it was just the luxury item of the times

There's not much evidence that it was much more protective, combine that with the 50% increase in weight and the reduction in flexibility 1/

Usually you either leave a gap or put expansions in around the armpit and shoulder to allow for movement, I've done both.

It actually does expand and contract, the rings move around each other, it moves just like a soft fabric.

It's actually not that restricting, it just forms to your body. Although it makes taking it off a nightmare.

There is a gap in the armpit for where the rings switch directions that also allows for reaching up.
