I seen an Ambulance driver get out of his Ambulance and repeated SLAP/POUND the trunk of a car blocking the Ambulance. Almost sure that there were words spoken. All the car had to do was move forward and then right to make way.

why would they do that? they would end up at the accident site where they would be obligated to help people...also all the other people in the traffic jam wouldnt let them cut back into line so once the cops show up (if they arent already at the accident site) it would get expensive...

thats not the emergency lane, thats the standstreifen, the "standing strip", broken down vehicles stop there in case they cant make it to an exit, hence emergency vehicles shall avoid driving there...

Second hand information, but according to a boss I once had that was Parisian from the beginning (Swede here) Parisians let the ambulances and firetrucks thru, but might not care as much about cops. Not sure if that's true.

They don't. If a German knows how to drive they will ALWAYS form a Rettungsgasse when the traffic comes to a stop on the Autobahn. If needed, it's there, if not, no harm done.

Depends, realy depends. On a Stadtautobahn. Good Luck. On a Overland Autobahn, 3 out of 4 times they work. Since the new laws more often. Before it was a 50% Chance. Now you can lose your driving license which is a great incentive... On Stadtautobahn often the Police drive in front of the Rescue nowadays. Which means 2 Points and 200€, when not forming it, and when not making way for rescue, 1 Month Pedastrian extra on it.

The point is Dashcams of firetrucks may be swatted by court, dashcams of Police Cars not. 8 Points and you lose your Driving license. So 2 Points is not light.

Don't forget the work-in-progress induced creeping forward... Drove from Rotterdam to Venice and instead of getting a hotel along the way, we took a 2 hour nap in the mountains in Austria because Germany had wiped me out and eaten up all the extra time I thought I had... 600km Germany highway, where you can drive as fast as you want on parts of it, should have taken 5 hours. It took me 12 hours... 50km/h on average ON THE GERMAN AUTOBAHN FOR CHRIST SAKES.

I know this sounds wrong, but the car not jumping the lights is the correct response. You are not trained or insured and can actually end up with points on your licence for jumping the lights.
In the UK people have gone to court for jumping the lights to let emergency vehicles past, they've lost. We wait, and then as soon as that light goes green floor it and pull over for the emergency services to pass.

At least in Germany you can and are required to jump red lights to make way for ambulances and the like (move safely forward into the intersection, common sense required tho).

Possibly a British driver. In the UK making space for an emergency vehicle is not justification for breaking any traffic laws. You will be ticketed/prosecuted for entering an intersection against the light, for example. Emergency drivers are trained to switch off lights & siren and wait in such situations rather than attempt to push through. Having said that, this moron could have pulled forward without crossing the line.

Depends on the area maybe. Here in MZ I've seen it twice. What the average MZ German driver also does is take an exit into a fuel station to bypass a traffic jam. Don't get me started about German drivers...

Don't do it on the A2 at Hannover. The Police there has a habbit to drive on one of the Bridges over the A2 and start taking Pictures, especially in 2017 and 2018 they did it when the laws were new. Easy way to be demoted to Pedastrian. Was sitting in a Traffic Jam in 2017 after the new laws. They enforced them and got 8 flashes off on A***h*** at least 240€, 2 Points and 1 Month without driving license.
