If that plant has recently emerged from a tiny seed there isn't enough of a root system to regenerate the stems and leaves. Unlike a pecan

They planted big trees around crops, berry bushed around those, then set fires. Crops and bushes burn slow, trees stop the cool fires.

It's been done for some time. The flame doesn't harm crops but rather incinerate the weed seeds on the surface.

Sure. They’ll still use them once the plants grow in. This is just for initial killing, most often prior to seeding. Not sure why I got DVd.
