Try audio books. The voice actors/readers give it a new life. I admit that reading some passages were rough but listening is easy

It gets excellent the more you go. Once they introduced more characters, I couldn't put it down.

It ramps up along the way, especially the later books. First one has a lot of world building because it's a bit complex and weird at times.
