Haunted Stories From Security 3: Monster Edition

Its been a long while since my last post regarding these stories, simply I ran out. But I'd experienced a few monster stories in my security career. I hadn't thought of posting them until @KevinBaconSandwich contacted me regarding his own haunted stories in security. Anyway if you want to read more.

The Torturer of Tunnel 7

So I had a job early in my security career guarding a train station and keeping kids away from the tracks during the night. They'd graffiti the place and do general no good hoodlum nonsense and our job was to stop them doing. Only the largest train stations had all night guards apart from one pretty small, maybe medium sized station. The reason for that's pretty simple, teenagers kept getting killed by trains.

There was a tunnel that was sort of S-Shaped that kids would run into to graffiti either after hours when the trains had stopped or if they were daring, they'd try and time it inbetween trains, there is enough room to not get hit by trains if you hug the walls but I wouldn't bet on it. People have been killed in that tunnel over the decades and we'd chalked it up the irregular shape of the tunnel causing confusion on where the train was coming from.

Until one night, the guard had seen some kids sneak into the tunnel and he ran in after them, this was after hours, so no trains. This was at the end of the shift so the relief guard had turned up when he'd heard screaming coming from the tunnel. He ran down and torched the tunnel hearing the screams of the other guard "LET GO OF ME" when he turned the torch he found the burly, strong guard with his leg wedged into tracks, the guard swore it wasn't the kids, his torch was flung from him and it had trapped him to the track. There was no sign of anyone else.

We're not allowed in that tunnel anymore. Thanks OH&S

The Boundary Road Drowner

So after Life Guards go home Beach Patrols are often contracted to Security Companies, because if a job needs to be done, you can rest assured that your local government will find away to subcontract it to a friend of theirs.

I'd been doing Patrols for the company for around six months when they'd put me on the coastal run, during the training my mentor mentioned that if you're going to find a drowned body, its going to be here. When I asked why, I was expecting a neat fact about geographical quirks and tides. Instead I was told about The Drowner. The area we patrolled used to be a large Aboriginal settlement, as the city expanded so did 'Boundary Road' a road that rings the city, Aboriginals were not permitted to cross in ye old racist days.

Ever since they'd been forced out the area became synonymous with drownings at night, fully clothed people in particular not drunken night swimmers. My mentor said one of the guards had even seen a someone become a victim of The Drowner. He'd been spotlighting the beach from the road and had passed a night time walker, not a uncommon sight. When he turned the car around and continued to spot light the beach the man was being dragged out by the water, faster than any riptide, with only a paralyzed look of shock on his face.

Luckily we ARE able to still go on that beach during work. Thanks OH&S

The Southern Plains Satyr

I was working for the same Patrol company and working what was called "The Sticks Run" because, well obviously you were out in the sticks and away from civilization, the main stock of clients were large construction quarries and building product store yards. You had to get inducted into each site and one site in particular had a very troublesome neighbor. The supervisor that inducted me to the site made it clear we weren't to cross over the fields to get to other parts of the storage yard. To go the long way, which would add time, unless it was during the day. This sort of crossed off the idea of cranky farmers being upset we drove across their field and there was a semi road there, so it piqued my curiosity.

"It can't spot you if you stay amongst the equipment" he told me, I'd like to think this was all a joke but there was a very intense seriousness about it. Its faster then any human, will legs like steers and its evil, he showed me something that was actually the reason for the Patrols in the first place, a list of reports in the OH&S office, a list of staff suicides over the past 30 years. All of them in the row of trees at that field, all of them suspicious by the police due to injuries on the people. All of them, with a look of fear.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the stories, us security guards a superstitious lot since we work at night, so I wouldn't put too much stock in these stories. Have a G'day from Australia

Fellow security guard here (hospital). The only creepy place we have is the old cancer ward. Reeeeally fun place.

Try Patrols friend-o, nothing will make you regret your career choice faster than a Patrol company.
