I think you could make a lot of sausage out of just one pig.

Breaking news Pigs reared for meat and in another amazing discovery water is wet more at 11.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah? They saved the investments of the farmer and prevented painful deaths of the pigs.

I think the modern world blends they’re wants and needs so much that we tend to over complicate our experience of being alive, just imo :/

Mmmm. Fresh bacon.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Of course the firefighters did more than just rescue the walking bacon. They put the whole fire out so I'd say it's a pretty awesome gift

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Jeez, I've never seen so much dumb comments on something like this. Things like "pigs are for meat".

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imgur is up in arms over some vegan vlogger mistreating a fennec fox but have no problem joking about pigs getting slaughtered. Go figure.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Twice baked sausage?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think this image captures what the pigs went through:

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Literally, while they likely were going down the gas chamber.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why are they thanking them? They slowed the cooking of the sausages

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What in God's name were they supposed to do? Send the friggin hogs to college? C'mon

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What would you expect? Should these pigs go to the zoo or something?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, what did people think they were keeping the pigs for? They're meat animals.

8 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 8

Still needed to put them out. If they've left them in the blaze, they would've been burnt (or overcooked).

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tautology? Aren't all animals meat?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meat here denoting their purpose, just as work animals would denote that they do work. Meat means that they're used for meat.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds fair, thanks.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If stardew valley has taught me anything, pigs are more valuable for their truffle-finding abilities.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Truffle hunting is actually really quite destructive and harmful, since it destroys important fungal mycelia.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No doubt. I mean, they're just taking large chunks of a giant still-living organism and selling it for a LOT of money.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's ridiculous that this actually needs explaining, people are that fucking shallow....

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Thi is just what we do – we are not an animal sanctuary. We give the pigs the best opportunity and the best life they could have for six -

8 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 1

months. They won’t be kept inside; they are outdoors and fed with organic food which is grown on the farm.”

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Fucked up

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 12

Why?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be fair, the pigs were always going to be slaughtered.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That’s what I’m saying is fucked: that standard :/

Trolling. No matter what you say, I can’t bring myself to believe anyone was that stupid. I choose to believe it’s just trolling.

8 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

Did you ever hear of Pelosi ?????

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

I know someone who believes it's better for animals to grow for the purpose of food rather than experience freedom of nature then get eaten.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I would rather use the meat from a wild deer i shot myself, than buy meat from a hen that lived in a cage. Also, taste is better.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I knew how to hunt and had the time that's where I'd get all my meat. Fresh venison is the best when cooked properly.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try a proper cooked roe dear heart. Stuff em with persille (dont know english word) wrap bacon around. Then some mushrooms, a sauce. 5/7

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly some farm food animals live relatively good lives in comparison to wild animals. Depends in free range and factory i guess

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Some are, but most aren't.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right, but many animals dont live very enjoyable lives in the wild. Its not an invalid opinion depending on the farm

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where am I looking, here?

The bold part "person very week"

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

The truth.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A letter from the future

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean correct me if I’m wrong but if they burned up in the fire they probably would have been ruined meat in some respect

8 years ago | Likes 450 Dislikes 5

Yep it would have been over cooked and terrible

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup, slaughter process is fairly humane compared to burning alive and the meat wasn't wasted.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Read the story. They served them to the firemen 6 months later, as a gift.

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

And not even that. The pigs where slaughtered as usual, meat sold (it's what farmers do) and part of it made into sausages for firefighters.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

that and, you know, the suffering.

8 years ago | Likes 186 Dislikes 2

Ohhhh that

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Mmm that crisp taste of anguish.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Exactly that, although there was a farm that was pre roasting pigs while they were alive

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

I killed this cow... in front of it's children.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Wait, what!? Really!?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

the fuck

8 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

I mean when most of the pigs we eat are from factory farms quite a large percentage experience something bad.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It wouldn't surprise me if this were true, look up donkey noodles.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wouldn’t that fuck the meat up because of all the stress hormones it would release

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yup it would be terrible, when they stress the meat goes white and tough.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Korean, Japanese and Chinese cuisine all have some fish/seafood dishes where the animal is kept alive through the cooking process and 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

while eaten. "Yin Yang fish" from China for example is deep-fried whole, but it's head wrapped in a wet cloth to keep it breathing.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My family ran a farm and i had to slaughter animals at a young age. I've done a hell of a lot of fishing and it isn't comparable. I even

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But if same was said about dogs in China yall would lose your minds!

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 8

No shit

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes because I have 30,000 years of evolutionary imprinting so it doesn't sit right with me at all.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wouldn’t. Meat is meat.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I own dogs as pets and therefore i wouldnt be comfortable eating one

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well i mean i have dogs as my pets. Wouldnt feel right eating dog meat.

Just like pig, it would depend on how it was cooked. Wouldn't be cultivated as an industry if it couldn't be made palatable.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Yah and one of the things you shouldn’t eat because they’re driving them to extinction

Actually, the dog meat trade in Asia is horrific. From what I read they torture the dogs while alive and do not slaughter humanely.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

While we breed the large majority of these farm animals in factory farms and that existence is often full of pain and suffering also.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Many of the dogs also are not raised on farms as claimed but are stolen pets or strays. At least with pigs we know they are farm-raised and

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

not bludgeoned and skinned alive. It's not ideal conditions in the US either but some dog meat traders believe that it is necessary to cause

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the animal pain in order to make the meat tender. I don't know how legitimate all these facts are but I've read on multiple sources.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So I don't think it's so much that people object to eating dog (though there's that too) but the insanely horrific practices behind it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pigs would not exist if we didn't start selectively breeding boar for this sole purpose a few millennia ago.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And if we would stop breeding them they couldn't care about anything. While when we breed them they prefer that existence to slaughter.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always wonder what that argument is supposed to say. Should the pigs know about that? Should they be thankful or what?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It is why they exist. Pretending they'll ever be more than meat livestock is naive.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh you mean like black people were brought to America just to be slaves, so pretending they'll ever be more like that would be naive?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Black people existed before that. Pigs, like dogs, wouldn't exist at all without human intervention.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also there's truffle pigs, therapy pigs, pet pigs, they get used for research a lot. It's not like they don't have other jobs already.
