Today at the Canadian Border...

Nov 23, 2023 12:43 AM

Sounds like a medical emergency? But looks like one of those "suddenly it's not your problem anymore..." kinda scenarios.

Ugh, an RV air conditioner on a building. RV air conditioners are the least efficient overall as most of the designs have remained largely unchanged since the 70s/80s. My 15000 btu unit draws over 1800 fucking watts. And that's on a 2013 class C.

Eyewitnesses said no explosion, just metal on metal impact, followed by Oil + Fuel + Asphalt fire.

2 years ago | Likes 172 Dislikes 3

An eyewitness said parts were coming off the car before it even hit anything.

I'm going to call accelerator peddle trapped under poorly made custom floor mat.

Curious on if it’s a murder suicide situation, accident, or medical emergency gone awry.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

According to Fox, it's brown people.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

god I really really want to make a joke about the fire......and them being...... a nvm too soon

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I don't know a single human being who isn't some shade of brown between #FFFFFF and 000000.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I've seen one, but that was the colloidal silver guy.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think the T-1000 might take offense at being called a human being.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

According to FOX the Radical Left Lunatics probably set this up and did it themselves!!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As many times as I slid off that rainbow bridge when I was winning, this doesn't upset me. Invest in some actual safety equipment (guard rails) and these things won't happen.

2 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 7

You can invest all you want in gaurd rails but a 6000lb car powered by a V12 going full tilt won't be stopped by much less than a wall. This thing hit the gaurd rail and did a 50/50 to oblivion. Honestly it doesn't upset me either, likely a medical emergency to go lead foot like that or something darker? Nobody will know.

All those times I fell off the sides

Na, if you buy a car and drive it like an asshole you're going to crash eventually. Feel sorry for the wife that died, but glad he didn't slam into anyone else

It was the guard rails (median barrier) that it launched off of!

Coronary at the wheel probably, a $300k car, 56yr old dude on his way to a KISS concert. Some people have said there's a Reddit thread outlining that particular model Bentley has had accelerator 'sticking' issues?

Just a terrible accident, not the Fox News 'the sky is falling!' reaction. All Fox news followers live in perpetual fear... it's why they are all paranoid about anything or anyone that doesn't fit their abysmally narrow world views.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

The car crashed into the inspection pavilion, which would normally be processing searches/inspections on vehicles and people entering the US from Canada. Initial reports made it sound like a car bomb, but further details and videos show the car really did come from the US side, somehow went airborne over the fence, and exploded on impact.

For once, not a Tesla

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The fox angertainment network and the usual trolls on Twitter were trying their damnedest to wind this up into being some "terrorist attack" well ahead of the facts… Now they are all pretending it never happened.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

On his way to a KISS concert.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Why, because their driving sucks?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everybody's okay, right?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 people that were in the car are dead. 1 customs officer was injured by debris, but should be ok.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why would anyone try to attack dead pets? I don't get it, just the other day a friends cat passed over the Rainbow bridge. THEY ARE ALREADY DEAD!! Some people.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some context would be awesome.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

A car was driving at a ridiculous rate of speed and crashed into the immigration booths at the US / Canada border in New York and burst into flames. Fox News thought it was a terrorist attack coming from Canada.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Not only was it not a terrorist attack, but it was GOING toward Canada. Really wish Faux NewZ was getting sued everytime they pull this kind of fearmongering...

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

I’m near this bridge and all Canadian news outlets also said possible terrorist attack at first when everyone thought it was an explosion.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's the typical dumb comment "First" when it comes to news. They don't care if it's wrong or inaccurate, gotta get the news out first, can't be the second sucker to release it or we'll lose all of our ratings at once!!! And I'm sure any outlet that reported it will say: Oops, it wasn't what WE thought it was. For fuck sake, even Trudeau said he was waiting for official reports...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like a senior had a neurological episode or similar. Was on the way to a KISS concert in a bentley - not exactly the type of scenario

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

that fits terrorism. Usually there would be a note left prior if that were the case, too.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Oh. At first, I thought you were referring to anyone on their way to a Kiss concert.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This person clearly needs to get them 500 character upgrades.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s not the Canadian border. It’s the US border. All happened on US soil. Car was American. People were American. Shit went down in NY State. But some US media of course glommed right onto it and blamed Canadian terrorism. Keep yo shit yo own country and leave us out of it.

Bentley

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From what I can gather, it look like some moron drove too fast and ran into something that let them go airborne... and landed down on something that punched the gas tank from under and phew the fuel all over the place. Some people thinks it's a terrorist attack, but it doesn't seem like it after a careful review.

2 years ago | Likes 382 Dislikes 4

That Explanation Makes Too Much Sense !!! It Was The Liberal Cabal Who Blew Up The Bridge !!! - magas.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shorty after it happened, authorities were told to assume a potential terrorist attack, only because in context, an explosion on an international bridge, that is a safe bet. That didn't last because an investigation eventually began and they could quickly rule it out.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Fox Announcer (foaming at the mouth): hundreds of thousands could have possibly died!! This is a result of Biden’s open borders policy!

2 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 3

Over at Reddit there is a tentative ID on the car as being a Bentley Bentayga, which has a known issue with sticking accelerator pedals.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

I recall an investigation that showed that the whole "sticking accelerator pedal" craze of the early 2000s was just over-hyped driver error. If you floor the accelerator and step on the brake, the brake wins. https://www.pushkin.fm/podcasts/revisionist-history/blame-game

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Yup and many of the "stuck accelerator" cases that did come to a successful suit in court turned out to be pedals that were, under uncommon circumstances, able to get caught under the floor mat. That's why my 2017 wheelchair van didn't come with mats.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

But again, if the gas pedal gets stuck down and you step on the brake, the car stops. The stuck pedal thing was overblown hype.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A CMU report on the incidents reported that if the driver pumped the brakes, it would require 175lb of force on the pedal to stop the car.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Page 14 of the report I've linked below shows that there WERE errors in the ECU code that could and did lead to erroneous wide open throttle

"Some people" = "people who listened to Fox pushing Russian propaganda"

2 years ago | Likes 199 Dislikes 5

I mean, busy border crossing on the busiest travel day of the year, I sure suspected it. Any reasonable person would. But reasonable people don't say it, or put big caveats. Fox news says they have high level sources who say it's terrorism. Probably actually told them it looks like it could be, or they're treating it as if it is immediately. But who would expect Fix to be intellectually honest or nuanced?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, the initial reports made it sound like a car bomb. It took time for the pictures/videos of the impact happening to circulate and be examined.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Yes, but only one news channel chose to use it to push a propaganda line.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

No no, you see, they have it on the authority of "High-level police forces" that this was "an attempted terror attack" and the car was "full of explosives"! This is just the government trying to cover up the truth! But we, Fox News, are somehow exempt from the cover-up and are bringing you the Truth!

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The problem with that narrative is it would be a US attack on Canada...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Would it? Normally when you cross the rainbow bridge, you talk to the US Customs at the booths. If they need to do additional checks on your papers or your vehicle, you are directed to a pavilion for this to take place. This pavilion is where the explosion happened.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

First, there was no explosion... second... the driver came from the US side moving towards the Canadian side.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

The initial reports were of an explosion in US Customs at the rainbow bridge. It was only hours later that footage of the car flying over the fence circulated to show that it had come from the US side.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

My parents are sure it was either Hamas or antifa.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Seeing as there were two people in the car, maybe it was one of each?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yeah if it was a terrorist bomb attack that flimsy wooden shed with the intact windows wouldn't be, well it just wouldn't exist. The car flew into many pieces, parts and fuel everywhere, but not an explosives shock wave by any argument.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Indeed. See the IRA attacks in London in the 90s. Not a window left intact for hundreds of metres all around.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That shed is likely more sturdy than it looks. Probably bullet proof glass too.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those fancy terrorists with their 2022 Bentleys…

Well that sucks

If electric cars had been the standard and people were trying to introduce ICE cars, this incident would prohibit all ICE cars forever.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

An electric car going that fast into anything will still end in carnage. It's not speed that kills, it's stopping really fast...

I mean wouldn't an ICE have -less- chance of catching fire in a catastrophic crash vs an EV? ICE fuel tanks don't spontaneously combust when ruptured, and are often far easier/quicker to extinguish.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As much as I am a proponent of electrical cars... it's just as likely a collision this serious would have ripped the battery open as well.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

But would have been a fire, not an explosion. Can't really do air/fuel explosions with lithium paste.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I understand correctly, both have issues. Gas goes boom, burns a bit and is done. Electric goes FSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHHSSHSH for as long as that massive battery can go, and no amount of fire suppressant can stop that kind of battery fire when it starts. However, battery is a more stable medium to "carry" power.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gas goes boom, the gasoline pours out onto the ground and under other vehicles and building and such and catches all of THEM on fire, etc etc.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why couldn't we have just gone with Doc's trash-powered engine? At worst an accident would make the area smelling like a public toilet, at best we would be going back in time and riding REAL hoverboards by now!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If the battery pack got split open those cells aren't going to stay in one place, & just to make life even more fun battery cells can sometimes take HOURS to catch fire. So now you have potentially thousands of small objects getting thrown in all sorts of directions, that also have a lot more kinetic energy and ability to punch through walls etc that can then sit there for minutes to hours and THEN catch fire. This is very much a worst case scenario, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fox News blowing their load over the "jihadist plot by radicalized immigrants, or Gaza, we're just asking questions, we don't know how long the perpetrators of this attack have been among us" story. Yeah you morons, terrorists don't usually go to the expense of using a Bentley as a suicide bomb vehicle. Fucking conservatives, they lie when the truth will do. They can't stop themselves, they didn't even have to think about it. "Something happened? MUST LIE ABOUT IT."

2 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 2

"Something happened? MUST LIE ABOUT IT." I don't think that's quite right. It's more like, 'how does this fit into my preconceived agenda?' ...and then just force-fitting their conspiracy theories with no regard for facts.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

CNN said it was a terrorist attack also.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Two people, driving into Canada on a suicide mission? In a Bentley? Can't wait till I hear about this from my MAGA family at the dinner table. They'll have spun some weird conspiracy theory by dinner time.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

It's already begun. "Oh how convenient, the untrustworthy FBI has already concluded it's NOT terrorism! LIARS!!" That's the argument now.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Because they now actually believe a majority conservative organization in a majority conservative profession are against GodKing Trump.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Their website is pretty straight with the story, repeatedly quoting people saying it wasn't a terrorist attack. The comments, though...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They need to jump into their narrative because more than likely, if it was a terror attack, the attacker would be a Fox news viewer.
