HELP! What cat breed is this? The story of Kiba, who, as it turns out, is not your regular house cat

Kiba the unknown breed

Kiba is a 4 year old fluffy bastard my BF and I found when we were waiting for a bus near our home. We heard the meowing from somewhere nearby and realized that it was coming from the nearby brushes. He was approximately four weeks old at the time. The little furball was scared, soaked from the rain and really happy when I decided to pick him up and wrap him into my scarf.

We had absolutely nothing we needed for a cat, so his makeshift bed was made of a box and a pillow. Clothespin for scale (these are, btw, still his favorite toys and he really like stealing them).

Proper bed

We decided we will check whether anyone was searching for him, since he was very clean for a stray kitten - no fleas, mites, parasites, anything! His ears were pristine. After a few days of "CAT FOUND" posters and posts online and no luck, we decided to keep him. We quickly bought the "Unexpected cat" starter kit: A bed, a litter box, some kitten food and bowls, a transporter. Of course, some toys too. A vet visit was in order as well. The vet was absolutely thrilled with him, and decided not to charge anything for the first visit and checkup.

The paws gave him away

As Kiba was growing, we soon realized that he isn't just a random stray. His paws were huge! He really had a distinctive face, very long whiskers, was more active than regular cats at that age and he demanded lots of cuddles.

He grew at a tremendeous rate, and although we searched for a breed (or at least a mix) to get some idea what he might be, we didn't have any luck.

As he got older, his nose was changing color. We had no idea that was a thing.

Mr. Whisker

And the whiskers became longer and longer. His fur as well.

2 years old

At two years of age, there was no doubt that he was some large breed. His weight reached 5,5 kg (11 lbs) at that time.

Time to make friends

We decided to adopt one more cat, and stumbled upon this beautiful boy in a local shelter. We named him Akkys and the guys got along great from day one. Kiba was really happy to have a playmate, and Akkys turned out to be a really caring and gentle soul.

Kiba at four years old, pic taken only a few days ago. We still have no idea what breed he is, but he is still growing :D

Obligatory Cat Tax.

I know, I know, it's a cat post, but cat tax is needed. As you can see, we ended up having three cats. Kiba (left), Akkys (bottom) and Pucca (top), the maine coon girl. She's the chattiest maine coon I have ever come across.
