Why do people like this?

I normally drink Irish and polish beer or lager. My dad bought this beer for my sister's bonfire in case her American friends preferred it because he knows it's popular in our area. It tastes like seltzer water with a hint of hops. That's it, no depth or complexity. Do people drink it just for the price point? I'm not knocking American beer, craft brews and IPAs are good in the US, but this tastes cheap even for a cheap beer. For a couple dollars more you can get a local IPA supporting your region and getting a better tasting beer, why do people not do that?
