Yup. There's cosmetics but you get ~200-350 gold per run and a hat will set you back ~14k. Sails with a design? 70k. It's not rewarding.

It doesn't help that mission payouts are offensively low. Missions don't feel rewarding therefore you get tired of it FAST.
