A guess based on my own experience... A project that large never feels "done" enough to actually feel right putting proper finishing details on it, he probably still constantly tinkers with it.

The patience to jigsaw 3-4" thick slabs of wood in intricate patters with a tiny wire to get perfectly perpendicular cuts is extraordinary.
Even accumulating such a large amount of good quality wood is very difficult. Dozens of pieces apprx 30" x 3.5"'x 24"'wide with no knots? C'mon!
Took literally 1000 hrs work to make & he doesn't even have safety sandals! It's a lovely art project - wood sculpture w/ passive gears over a welded metal EV. It reflects a lot of sophisticated design work.

It's the "this is for the boys" meme where a guy just... does "guy things". Throwing a rock off a bridge into a slow river below, shattering a sheet of ice on the sidewalk, digging a hole on the beach as a collective effort. Silly, mindless things that tickle the "unga bunga" part of the brain that women, etc., may be "too refined" to enjoy. It basically doesn't. I've never driven one but I have sat in one and the glass in the back of the car is so tilted you can basically see a tiny slit like you're driving in a tank. My current car had a camera fed rearview mirror and I no hate driving any car without one. Full, clear view out the back no matter what's in my car. No one can high beam me and the visibility at night is amazing.
