I had a friend back in my college days who had to read this for a lit class she was taking and she highly recommended it back then. I'm finally getting around to reading it.

The fact that this was banned in places makes me think of a super old website (cap alert) I that rated movies based on the "amount of sin" that was in them, and in the review of Saving Private Ryan, they said they were "pretty sure that much gore and foul language didn't happen on the beaches of Normandy."

Spoiler alert: Toward the end he discovers that his father destroyed his mother's Camp diary. If ever I felt that someone deserved all the Holocaust could do to him, that was it.

Very good book and even better that your library hasn't banned it

If only a book like this was mandatory reading in US schools. Instead you have school boards trying to ban it.

Ive never read this and might now. But honestly, you can only read the diary of anne frank but so many times in school before you reject it out of forced annoyance.
