Graphics matter

PC master race or console peasant, graphics always add to the experience.

Wind Waker is prob my fav Zelda game, people hated its art style. But I'd argue its look held up better than Twi Princess which came after.

Good graphics can't make a game good, but bad graphics can make a game bad

They don't matter, they're just icing. Shit graphics don't detract from a great game.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

PC Master Race also has Undertale. This is a complexing dilemma.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Earthbound is one of my favorite games of all time. Graphics are the least cool thing about that game

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Graphics don't truly matter to me, I'd just rather have the settings on max than on low

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Graphics don't matter. AESTHETICS is what matters, and graphics are only there to SERVE the AESTHETICS.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

Thank you. Darkest Dungeon has shit graphics, the attacks are only one frame, but the art style compensates and makes a great aesthetic.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True, graphics add to the experience but they take a backseat to gameplay, audio and story for me. An hd piece of crap is still crap.

Arthur in 3D?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would rather the game look bad, than be bad.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I prefer when the dev puts most of their attention into combat/movement mechanics and uses simpler graphics. (MC, N, Binding of Isaac, etc.)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Games that have fun gameplay age well. Games that are played for their amazing graphics will be garbage by all accounts in 20 years.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The games that I played that developed my love for gaming had horrible graphics, but I still love them and can enjoy them even to this day.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How it runs > graphics

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Playing a game for the graphics is like watching porn for the story. Enjoyable good, adds to the experience, but not the main point

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

There's the thing. There are people who watch porn for the story. Everyone's different.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Enjoyable IF good I mean. ... but then, who cares, post is 7h old, nobody going to see this <.< >.>

console assimilationist*

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I disagree

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and yet games like Borderlands, Binding of Isaac, Minecraft, Terraria, Undertale, Kerbal space program, Sotuh Park etc are super popular

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

graphics matter only a little, the truth is gameplay and how everything feels is what really matters

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Take any game and give it better graphics. It's now a better game. The discussion should be budget priorities gameplay versus graphics etc

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

No, it's just a better looking game, maybe. As far as the quality of the game itself? That hasn't changed.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Technically still a better game in regards to graphics, which is what they said.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Explain Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe, but I will always sacrifice graphics for performance!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a gamer. Pikmin is special due to how deep it is. Not the graphics.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don’t care much about graphics lol. Maybe I’m just old school where I shit my pants to CS 1.3 =/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Graphics does matter in many games it makes it go from great to amazing, but it is not the main factor in a game. Game play is always nr 1.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is all a matter of personal preference in what one likes due to differences in personality. To argue ether side is pointless& closeminded

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If graphics are the most important thing to you, you probably aren't much of a gamer.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Graphics add to the experience" - OP It's like a car. Insides could be identical, but you'd chose polished over rusted.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are far more older games with at best decent graphics that I'd rather play than most of the new games.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Downvoting because graphics simply really dont matter. Just an excuse to get consumers to buy the newest hardware.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well they do.... why do the same thing over when you can advance.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to game on PC until it up and died 3 years ago :/ getting a PS4 probably didn't help the rebuild.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gameplay matters. Graphic hit their pinnacle years ago.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Ex: No Mans Sky

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pinnacle? Hah. Doubtful. Almost never bad enough to fuck with the game? Absolutely.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Fortunately we're at the point now where most games have an acceptable level of graphics. So that argument is fairly moot IMO.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

Looking back at the differences between games sometimes shows a huge massive difference. Metal Gear Solid series for example.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

But MGS is still immensely playable, the graphics don't matter in it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Try telling that to my nephews :/

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They'll learn, right now you'd be better off referring to them as Phillistines.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tell that to the wii u

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 10

Are you implying the Wii U doesn't have an acceptable level of graphics?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It doesn't have hardware that devs want to work with so probably not

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Art style is the keyword. Check out some of the highest rated games on that machine and say their ugly, they're not.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How many are third party

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

That's what they said 10 years ago. I was there. They said "Halo looks so great, why bother with more power?"

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Some games now look pretty photo realistic. http://orig08.deviantart.net/dfed/f/2016/265/3/d/tier0_gif2_small_by_dictator93-daijy1r.gif

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I often think what if one day games become so realistic that there could be real footage, but we would still think it's a computer graphics.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not saying you're wrong, but that's a bad example, because it's not from a game.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Actually it is, it's an in engine demo of a new facial animation tech.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Which is still not an accurate representation of how it'll actually look like in a game - only what the engine is technically capable of.
