Edit: Thanks a lot guys ! First thing I did was get a voter registration application. Time to make some changes 'round here.

Edit2: Also guys, if you have any questions. You can private message me and I may be able to help you. Because I remember wishing there was someone to answer my questions about the process without charging me a ridiculous amount of money.

Why'd you do it OP? Now you owe taxes no matter where you go.

Screenshot. Forget. Post in a dump someday in the distant future. Favorite the dump.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been looking at the website, but I'm still confused. Should I get a US job/home first, THEN citizenship, or vice-versa?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's going to take three years to become a citizen... So yeah, you might want to think about a job.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It usually takes much longer than 3 years. That's the best case if you are married to a US citizen or have some other priority condition.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True. My wife will be getting hers after three years.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah so Work Visa -> (Other Visas) -> ??? -> Citizenship?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You need a reason to be in the US, usually a work visa, then apply for a green card, then after 5 years (usually) apply for naturalization.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Green card time varies by country of origin and other things like marriage, and military service can change the naturalization requirements.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

thank you for doing it the long but right way.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 7

Congratulations. Where did you start out, and where did you end up?

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Where did you come from, where did you go, where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe?

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe, I'd been married a long time ago

lot of innocent foreigners left undeaded, many democratically-elected governments left to overthrow for Wall St, a LOT of work to do!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Yeah that wall ain't gonna build itself

9 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 3

This is very well put. Reading it felt like a nice comfy hug.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Congrats! Hey did you get the welcome letter signed by President Obama? I saw a story about that.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Congratulations!.. I'm sorry it's at such a shitty time.

9 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 32

Frankly I'm having the time of my life... But that's just me.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Said every generation ever

9 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 39

America had it's highs and lows. We're currently in a political and economic low.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

We are not in an economic low, and the former is an opinion...one i agree with but dont spout it as fact

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We're in an economic low? As an electrician I can say that my trade has never been busier. Trades usually reflect economy.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

So, your argument is that you're an electrician that's getting plenty of business in an age where the entire nation relies on your product?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trade jobs are usually safe, even in rough economies. I'm not saying it's terrible now, but it's still low in comparison to pre-Bush levels.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Typically most electricians are laid off in the winter. This year most of the companies in my area are still trying to hire.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tbf not every generation had a president colluding with foreign powers. It's been worse, but it's been better

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 27

(2/2) with none.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Hillary being guilty does not make Trump a good president, or even a better one. There were too shit choices, and we got the incompetent one

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I'm simply pointing out the logical fallacy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

You have proof of that?

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 38

Come on buddy

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 18

Ill believe it when i see proof..not CNN op eds

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 33

You know there's a problem when your logic allows you to believe Hillary is innocent with incriminating evidence, and Trump is guilty (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 15

NOBODY SAID SHIT ABOUT HILLARY CLINTON. SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT HER. SHE LOST. THE ELECTION IS OVER. STOP DEFLECTING TO HILLARY CLINTON.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

Calm down, bud. You're gonna pop a blood vessel in your dumb little face.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

congrats, now don't forget to vote, and do jury duty. Quick question the letter that you received did it had Obama's signature or Trump's?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I also want to know the answer to this question.

9 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

i mean its not like you can refuse jury duty

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

You keep believing that so us smart people don't have to waste our days in there. ;)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

you can make an excuse to get out of it, but you cant just not show up. you still have to waste an entire day to not have to waste more

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wrongo. You can get out of it beforehand. Quite easily.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

do tell

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gotta be Obama's. Even if the WH realized they needed to change it since the previous post, they couldn't possibly get it done this fast.

9 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 14

Trump will just cover it a blanket tweet. "Tanks for bigly USing. The greatest. Covefe."

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

plus Trump doesn't know how to write anything more than characters at a time.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 8

Yeah it's only been six fuckin months, very hard to get one signature changed so fast.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 9

Trump still has thousands of jobs unfilled in his admin

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

It's the gov't, a lot of places haven't gotten a new presidential portrait to hang yet.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I bet they haven't. But when I was in bumfuck West Africa our HQ got Obama to replace Bush in 2009 way quicker than 6 months.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

It's a letter written by the president + signature.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

...can...can he write?

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Oh, even tougher. He's been busy getting all those other things done I'm sure.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Actually there is a long protocol in place, and administration is given from the day of the electoral college results til the inauguration..

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

to get the documents, access, codes, etc. changed before the new POTUS steps into the oval office.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

And they did like... none of that stuff.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

No it was a fluke at their office. Only like 200 of them had those. http://www.newsweek.com/barack-obama-us-citizenship-letters-637800

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No the only signatures I have on my certificate are mines and the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. James McCament.

9 years ago | Likes 194 Dislikes 0

So like.. why would you pick the US? Start saving for retir... ahem ahem.. medical bills ASAP!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

A lot of workplaces give health coverage... healthcare might not be where we want but if you can work, you're covered

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean i guess, if you can afford it..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

so no letter? interesting, I wonder who will get the first "trump" edition letters.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Eagle scout will get Trump letters

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You're only required to be a Permanent Resident for 5 years, then you can apply for citizenship.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah but I first need to complete 4 years of waiting for the asylum interview, after that, it's 5 years of Permanent Residency haha

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oooh. Ok. So yeah I guess it depends on your circumstances.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, ot seems Florida is delayed with the asylum process for 4 years, had to live with my savings for 8 months and I'm almost in $0 :(

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And now you may answer questions with 'Murica'

9 years ago | Likes 1383 Dislikes 19

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always figured people should have to pass a citizenship test before we allow them to vote, but the Supreme Court ruled that was illegal...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Az tried to make passing a citizenship test mandatory to graduate high school, teachers fought it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because that's a stupid law. You have to be a citizen to have a high school diploma? What about foreign exchange students?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No just pass a test similar to the citizenship test along with passing all your classes. Reason was to create a generation that actually

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Knows our history and how our government works.
