akhshually, IQ tests try to not measure education but pure deduction skills, thats why they try to work with shapes and patterns for the most part...but yeah, a few test questions will be word puzzles or something and eg "find the automobile brands in this letter salad" is a task that requires knowing some car brands, so there definitely is a bias against people who lack education or general knowledge...still, not as extreme as you claim...

Removing the most flawed studies it’s closer to 82 about a SD, a similar gap to black Americans in the late 20th century. The within groups variance shows this is almost entirely socioeconomic, and indeed black IQ scores have closed that gap for that reason. There is some old (like older than me) data to that effect but it turns out the tests were just bullshit.
I don’t think IQ testing is completely useless (it’s part of the diagnostics panel for ADHD, for starters) but people who think it matters in the context of “how society should work” are pretty reliably horrible.

IQ is just a proxy for intelligence that’s heavily biased to a western education. They are measuring education and socioeconomic status as much as intelligence. They are useful in that context , but the obvious racist interpretations of differences are deeply problematic.

I think many people travel abroad for quite shallow reasons - to allow them to say 'been there, done that', to experience better weather, to be the sort of drunk/obnoxious cunts that they wouldn't get away with at home - to name just a few. Personally, my first bit of research when travelling to another country is learning how to say 'Thank you' in the local language but I accept that there may be valid reasons for others not to make any effort. But if they're rude about it, then fuck 'em.
