New Cafe Open in Asheville NC Jan 1, 2016

It started with a machine

A beautiful machine

With hand turned marble elm handles

They are a nice touch

Then came the space

This is the YMI Building

It's one of Asheville's oldest buildings

And one of the oldest African American institutions in America

We didnt paint this amazing mural

Unfortunately the only credit for the mural is "Big Joe and some Kids" painted it about a decade ago

We bought a pew from a local church

And I took it across downtown with a dolly in the rain

It looks greak in the cafe

We had a carpenter friend trim up this old handrail for our window seating

And build us this awesome narrow oak bar for the other window

Day 7. Redemption

I woke up Christmas eve to an intense summer thunderstorm and headed back to the shop to repair the disaster from the night before. I scraped up any remaining epoxy and glue and laid some fresh pennies down. Then I reread all the instructions and poured the epoxy right this time.
