Short tailed Stingrays can live between 15 and 25 years in the wild, which means that Ray could still be alive today. Was it a young buck, looking to secure it's territory from a man who, for one fatal second, cast the silhouette of a shark? How is that Ray now, all these years later? Does it still tell the tail with gusto? Or is it to be found floundering in the back of Jazz Clubs, smoking Gitanes and blotting out the memory with Pernod? We may never know.
