All swarming with bandits and highwaymen

Neuschwanstein is so fucking overrated, it's almost comical. Also: #4 is a church.

All of them costs less than an NYC apartment

#6 is actually a house in Florida

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And suddenly, Craster's house !

Burg Eltz. #1 and #3. Been there twice. It is actually a competed castle and was lived in for centuries.

I've been playing way too much Warband. First thought was "Bet I could siege that if I had enough Huscarls."

I used to always look at pictures like these to make my Lego castle more real when I was a kid

One of these is not like the others...

Is it the one they showed twice?

No. 8 is Bled, Slovenia

As beautiful as the church on the island is, there's an actual castle up on the cliffs and not visible in this picture.

Courtesy of Ludwig II of Bavaria.

I was secretly hoping this was a link to White Castle.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I like this. What is it and how come there's a very beautiful flag there on the right?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was expecting the Biltmore Estate

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No offense but this is probably the worst list of castles you could pick to showcase castles. None of these are older than 150 years (1)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

one is even a modern mansion. There are SO many thousands of amazing castles in Europe, why show these three? Just my two Euro Cents.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Europe, were up to here with fuckin castles

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yesssss I was looking for this comment. Eddie Izzard is the bomb!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We all got a castle each. Just longin' for a bungalow or something.

About half of these pictures are of Schloss Neuschwanstein. Went there last spring, it's quite stunning.

10 years ago | Likes 354 Dislikes 0

I went there last spring too!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've visited as well. Hoen Schwangau was very cool and the village and lake were absolutely lovely. Funny how the two castles are so close

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And one of them is a cabin

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish more of the inside was completed. The completed insides are just as beautiful as the outside.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Honestly, the only reason I thought of this was cos of Civ V...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

which ones are Schloss Neuschwanstein?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2, 5, 7, and 9

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

thank you!!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neuschwanstein, that's the castle who's owner was obsessed with building castles & ended up mysteriously dead in a river? Too lazy to google

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's him. He was also kinda obsessed with swans.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What, really? But if memory serves me correctly he was off his rocker and the entire country plus his fam wanted him killed so sounds right

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you see the toilets?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And not even close to finished, probably never will be.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the other half are Burg Eltz. Both wonderful places.

I went to Burg Eltz at 14. I wish I'd gone when I was old enough to fully appreciate it.

#6 is in Homestead, FL not far from me, and it's for sale: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/25791-SW-167th-Ave-Homestead-FL-33031/82067350_

I went there too and it was very foggy :-/

I love how Ludwig was making a balcony to watch knights bathe

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I need to hear more about this.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And he was going to add a balcony inside which overlooked the bath house

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The castle wasn't finished because Ludwig was building a couple of other castles but there were plans to have like a bath house for knights

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#1 and #3 are Burg Eltz in Germany. One of my favorite castles ever. Highly recommend a visit!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes! Burg Eltz is lovely :)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I especially love how it's still owned and maintained by the original family. Pretty amazing history.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why is it burning?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think that's Photoshopped in haha. I don't like that or the "gritty" filters in this post. The castle itself is beautiful and colorful

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was confused about it and more confused about nobody mentioning it. The q I'm asking myself is: Why? :-D

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha I wouldn't know! Here's a pic without filters and Photoshop:

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
