I was so depressed to the point where I had planed my suicide to the exact day. A couple of days before I planned to kill myself I figured I might as well try weed and wow I feel completely different even 24 hours after smoking it I still wasn't depressed

Fuck off the smartasses here, I'm glad you didn't kill yourself!

Look into further weed and get therapy. I went thru the same thing and the weed definitely helped, but the therapy saved my life.

Fuck all these people saying get help, weed is a hobby, stick with it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For sure, same boat for me. I use docs meds in conjunction and it's working wonders!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just SMOKE WEED EVERY DAY

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Not a long term solution. It will likely makes things worse in the long run

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Was gonna try and kill myself, but then I got high." ????????

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Careful bro, it's really good on the short term. I used it for the same reason you did and now I smoke almost half an ounce in a week...

Try playing MMORPGs. They'll turn you bitter and jaded, but good fuck you'll be ready to slay a small country to get your next fix.

Its cool to rely on anti depressants but lord forbid you rely on weed.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

:) funny how society is eh, such programming.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Medical marijuana is used to remedy mental illness, go figure

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Yup :) and please keep an open mind that it may well be a long term solution. And if you feel low sometime, don't join my friends before me.

Chemical things are funny, looking at these posts, wow, if it works, embrace it. Shakes head at all the people still fighting war on drugs.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 steps. 1. Address the chemistry in your head. Weed may work but I'm no Dr. So good to get a prof opinion there are lots of options. 1/3

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/3 2. Address the thinking patters that are reinforcing your illness. Look up and try Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness on wiki.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3/3 Change your environment what in your circumstance could you change to avoid old mind patterns from returning?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4 Great that you reached out and many in Imgur will support you. Even better to have someone IRL that you can talk to. Friend, therapist.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good luck It can and does get better.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Weed will be less harmful than pharmaceutical drugs, no?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Maybe you have hormonal issues ?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How so sir?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

http://www.webmd.com/depression/guide/depression-the-thyroid-and-hormones#1 depression is a multifactor desease, not only mental.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm no doctor, but if smoking affect your mood that much, it could be worth it to dig in the hormonal way.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have hyperthyroidism and before the diagnosis thought I had anxiety and depression and shit ton of stress. TSH was undetectable.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah now that ur feeling better u should def go talk to a psychiatrist, they do talk therapy and it has saved my life. We both well know..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

.. that the anti depressants kinda stop working. Therapy will help a ton! I no what its like Trust Me.Im really happy for u

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you considered magic mushrooms? There's been some pretty promising research regarding psilocybin and treatment-resistent depression.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I mean, if you were going to off yourself anyway, if you find that the weed starts wearing off, that should be your next drug to try.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That article talks about research re: treatment in terminally ill patients, but links to an article about psilocybin and regular depression

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I could dig up the actual research papers, too, if anyone's interested.

Get help asap go see a psychologist! I've done it and discovered things i hadn't realised made me sad. I wouldn't be able to cope without it

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And by sad i mean i was in a depression.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Psychiatrists can prescribe antidepressants, psychologists cannot. Not all problems in the head but a chemical imbalance. Science works.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can understand that but i'm affraid of medication (for anti depressant and sleeping pills only) leading to adiction :(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, and then you get used to life 24/7 high until you're convinced you can't be happy WITHOUT it + even less mentally healthy than before!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Hey, alive and dependent on weed is better than, well, dead.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

So kinda like antidepressants? Which also can just stop working as well and gotta take forever

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Sure, although I would trust the long term effects of meds monitored closely by a good Dr. and psychiatrist a lot more than self-med weed.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

How can you be less stable then already planned your own suicide?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You can be unstable enough to plan your own suicide *and actually go through with it* you dingus.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Cynical cyanide is retarded, don't mind him.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

BRILLIANT counter-argument.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The point of the story is I was, but the weed stopped me

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You'll never know if you actually would've gone through with it. Imagine going through the same thing except with paranoia and (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

(2/2) weed withdrawal etc. I'm glad to hear weed helped, but treat it as buying time to get help, not a cure

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Have you tried any medications? The weed effect might wear off, use this time to get proper help.

9 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 3

Yeah, I was on anti-depressive for about 6 months , they didn't help and sometimes made it much worse

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

. I been doing the depression med thing for 30 years, finally found something that's working. Can't give up. If I can do it, you can to.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I was on anti-depressive for about 6 months , they didn't help and sometimes made it much worse

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It can, but curing depression isn't a one pill solution. It takes time to find the right meds and doseage, but so worth it when you do.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had this problem, worked but then got expensive due to tolerance. Problem solved by creating my own small grow OP. No problem now!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So now I have more bud than I can smoke and I picked up a new discipline. Everyone needs a discipline /hobby. A skill to sharpen over time

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It took me a few different medications and 6-12 months on each to find one that worked. Weed is def a short term reliever.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Holy shit that exact thing just happened to me. Except I was on meds for 4 months.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That really sucks. Only took me about 2 tries to get the right meds ... more or less...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep up the weed we want you to live

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Weed > medicine keep it up man

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Weed has chemicals which may blunt force the problems away temporarily but in many cases it only puts a bandaid on the symptoms 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

While this approach is great for diseases that really only distress a person with symptoms, in a case of clinical depression, the is a 2/?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

*there... Is a chemical imbalance in the brain which can be regulated, albeit imperfectly, with pharmaceuticals that are significantly 3/?
