Doesn't seem like the unkillable man, more like whatever ship he is on gets blown the fuck up.
Dubmistep
Good thing he didn't have a viking funeral. The Boat would get torpedoed by a random plane.
Radix865
I was really expecting the japanese prison boat to get sunk by the allied...
JRedBear
Japanese send Ian back to the allies because he is worth more on their team lol.
NickBlight
Or he was a spy silently giving the enemy his location and having his buddies pick him up when things looked bad
TheSomethingSomethingGenericReplyGuy

Forbes dispensed a broadside of WHOSE justice? Elizabeth was still an ambulance-driving badass princess. WW2 = King George VI.
jcosmic

BigEatsBen
Stopped reading at the first image when you didn't bother to fact check which monarch was in power during ww2
CaptainSwaggerJagger
PSA, RN warships aren't refered to as 'The HMS' - they are either HMS XYZ or the XYZ.
LordTrapper

This is interesting and a fun read. Sadly, not true, however
TheMeanGombeen
I knew a guy who said he was sunk "3 1/2 times". He said three ships sunk, but one was split in two and his part stayed floating.
Sathanas
Died in 1992 aged 72, therefore born 1920. Enlisted 1933. I have a concern.
dunxrox
It was quite common until the mid 20th century for children as young as 12 to become midshipman in the Royal Navy.
SmellOfMonkey
As i remember it a lot of the fire control was carried out by Royal Marine bandsmen, most of whom were very young
Kreegrom
The US Navy had this too, at least up through the Civil War. They were called powder monkeys or something.
Commonwealth countries have these Cadet programs that get school-aged kids involved with the military, sorta like our JROTC I think.
aPrideofLions
Yeah still do, I've a friend that's going into an RAF college to work as an engineer
I'd guess that back when Britain still had a large empire but only a small population to maintain it, this was a more serious commitment?
imagoa
"Hey Kids, join the military. You're gonna be killed but by the time we're done brainwashing you you'll think it's an honor."

Probably joined as a Cadet, seeing as he was a commissioned officer at the start of hostilities. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boy_seaman

"boy seaman" sounds like something you really really don't want in your search history when the FBI shows up.
StonesOnTheHill
I was so ready to hear that he'd invented the game Battleship. Now I'm almost disappointed.
Iforgetmyusernameeasily
In other words, if Ian Forbes is on the ship you are get ready to swim.
LegendaryOrca
Or just handcuff yourself to him
BrokeMyFunnyBone
Smart, he can use your dead body as a flotation device
Theauthenticdonaldtrump
I lol'd at the campers ref
Doumdidoum
It's not Forbes' fault. The British navy was wiped out from the East by the japanese. They all had an horrible time.
MayorMcWeed
If you read this comment in a Russian accent, it is much funnier.
fe1od1or

MayraV
