I mean, its never a bad thing to eat less McDonalds. Their food is not even good by fast food standards. But still keep in mind that the photo op was not affiliated with McDonalds. Franchises are still small business owners; bad ones exist, but so do good ones. I wouldn't collectively punish everyone because one dude decided to let the cheeto in chief stage a photo in his store.
Mc Donald’s here is the preferred choice for students job as you can choose your schedule freely and the pay is 32$ / h. It has certainly nothing to do with our despicable socialism.
did you happen to see the news report (and posts here) that the location was closed and that each customer was a suppoter of trump. It would not surprise me in the least that he charged the supports.
Unpopular opinion: Any number of McDonalds franchises supporting Trump is not enough for me to boycott them. Trump is an asshole, but he is on your side of the pond. The current boycott I'm doing is because IT retailer sold drones to Russia and that was enough for me to boycott them. Also, last time I ate in McD, it was La Rambla, Barcelona, Spain.
The division investigated Bauer Food LLC, Archways Richwood LLC and Bell Restaurant Group I LLC – three separate franchisees that operate a total of 62 McDonald’s locations across Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland and Ohio – and found they employed 305 children to work more than the legally permitted hours and perform tasks prohibited by law for young workers. https://www.dol.gov/newsroom/releases/whd/whd20230502-0
Are you the OP of this post using a second account? That would be so weird. You posted the same quote about McDonald’s pudding poison in their food under two different account names.
You’ve just accused McDonald’s of intentionally putting poison in their food. What poison do you claim they’re putting in the food? Was that your intention, to commit libel in a public forum?
For the 300 upvoters. What percentage of you are registered to vote and 100% committed to vote.
I’ll make the case to you that you can resume pitching and moaning about McDonald’s on November 7. in between now and then, you should be focusing on getting every young person you know under the age of 35 committed to voting. That group only voted at a 25% rate in the 2022 midterm.
The Republicans are who you should blame. Complaining about corporations and billionaires will get you nothings
I've eaten at McDonalds twice in the past 6? years. I disliked it both times - made me feel like crap. My body is probably not used to it anymore. I used to eat there quite a bit when I was a kid though.
It's amusing when people say this. You chose what you wanted to eat at McDonald's and you ate it. You hated yourself later for patronizing what you view as a predatory business, so you discredit it. However, you know it's economical, hot, safely prepared, clean conditions & readiy available. You're a terrible candidate to sustain a boycott.
You're trying to convince YOURSELF that during your two lapses of judgment eating at McDonald's, that you got sick both times. Be honest with yourself.
In a world where most people don't care in the slightest for supporting companies that do the wrong things do you think it's a smart approach to question motivations to do so just because there existed valid motivations long before? It feels like a disservice to such boycotting initiatives.
The reality is that it's not making a difference, it's also incredibly likely you'll revisit out of convenience when required. These sort of boycott things hardly ever work, this one certainly won't.
Very large number of them are locally owned and operated. Their app works well and if I am in the mood for breakfast, I can always get a breakfast sandwich for two dollars. I realize they’re fabulous target for young peoples hatred.
I have a suggestion, however. Maybe get registered and vote.
Less than 25% of young voters even bother to turn out and vote in the 2022 midterm election. This has been documented by tufts university .
You sure said a whole lot to justify continuing to support McDonalds. Just admit you dgaf and eat your egg McMuffin. To answer your strange question I'm Canadian, a Gen X-er, and have been actively involved in local, provincial, and federal politics for over 3 decades.
McDonald's is too Mcfuckin expensive. Honestly I did enjoy the occasional big Mac with hot mustard sauce, but the guality doesn't match the price. FUCK CORPORATIONS
It’s cheaper than Arby’s, Sonic, and Taco Bell. Especially if you get the meal deals or use their coupons and points in the app. Always order on the app and you’ll save a little money. But I know in some markets the franchisees are jacking up prices more than in other places and that’s despicable.
Not anymore! It used to be that you could get a cheap quick meal at McDonalds, but now a Big mac is averaging $6-7, by itself
the McDouble that 3 years ago was the heart of the dollar menu is now $3 or 2/$4
Most stores don't even offer the $1 any size drinks anymore. Do you know how cheap fountain drinks are? the cup is the most expensive part. a 32 oz drink costs maybe 32 cents including the cup.
They have $5 meal deals now, but what you recall was that they didn’t raise the price of their dollar menu for 14 years and you took advantage of that super good deal for ages.
By using the app, you can save a lot. But this isn’t about the price is i?
When you say "fuck corporations", do you mean that you prefer businesses instead organize as partnerships or sole proprietorships? I suppose if the concern is that business owners should not easily be able to walk away from a failing business, the latter forms will hold them personally responsible for any losses which, I suppose, would address that specific issue.
Yeah pretty much. I really stopped eating them quite a while ago. The food isn’t even good so why would I want to deal with their price gouging. Especially since they don’t pay their people enough.
In my area, Minneapolis, the starting salary for new employees with zero experience is 18 USD per hour. At least that is what is on the window for the McDonald’s nearest us.
And it's not even really convenient anymore. If you go during a meal rush, you're waiting longer than it'd take to make your own lunch. They invented "fast food" by streamlining their menu down to just a few items so they could just crank out burgers and fries. Now, with 187 menu choices, custom made, their convenience is gone. All that's left is whip cracking and gov subsidized poverty wages and shit food to keep siphoning away people's money, time, and health.
Well, you haven’t been to McDonald’s for a while. Most of them have two lines now and two ordering stations in the majority of people buy with the app so if you plan even three minutes ahead of time, your food is ready when you get there.
But now consider the greedflation going on in the grocery industry. Those people are making more but they are also paying more because we cannot satiate our corporate overlords.
FacelessVixen
Been doing it since 2004.
Starfury42
Overpriced/low quality food was enough for me to just stop eating there.
HighMagosSquidward
If this is why you boycott McDonald's you haven't been paying attention to McDonald's.
TheLiteraryMachine
Just another reason in a long list of others to boycott McDonalds.
FR0STxB1T3
im sure McDonalds has been in shambles ever since you stopped going there
levyathyn
For all the other reasons listed here, but also their blanket support of Israel's genocide.

Your body and health will thank you too!
nobodyspecial995
I'm with you. I will continue to boycott McDonald's as I have for the last few decades
DaveSamsonite
I sure hope you plan to vote!
nobodyspecial995
Would if I could, I'm Canadian. Best I can do is moral support and spreading the message.
fractalsphere
The whole thing was a photo op. Store was closed. I mean it would have to be, would YOU want to eat food prepared with him in the kitchen? Gross
Nalianna
Depends.
Samperr
I can't boycot something I already don't go to...but I if I did I'd be with you on.
ChadMaxxington

Was them supporting the IDF not enough?
Trelis
I haven't been to McDonald's for about half a year and don't miss it. When I crave a burger, I get one from a local food van, so much better.
reminiscience
Boycott them for supporting Israel
DaveSamsonite
How does McDonald’s support Netanyahu?
DaveSamsonite
No answer. Don’t let your anger at strangers prevent you from voting.

I would boycot them, but I'm not a customer anyways because the food was too shitty anyway, so.
WhoToldYouLifeWasFair
Aww... Just when I was about to try the new Chicken Big Mac. Or not. Prolly not.
cuttysark
did you happen to see the news report (and posts here) that the location was closed and that each customer was a suppoter of trump. It would not surprise me in the least that he charged the supports.

Guaranteed there was a fee to be one of his photo-op "customers".

I can't boycott McDonald's. I never go there in the first place.
enterusernamehere25
Their food alone is enough for me to boycott it
hackller
can't stand mcdonalds anyway. it's like eating a piece of cardboard between two pieces of cardboard!
DaveSamsonite
It’s not. The quarter of burgers are made with fresh ground beef and they’re very good and the app I get them free several times a year.
DontKnowTheSource
I haven't been to a McDonald's in probably a decade. The one time I did go I was sick as a dog the rest of the day. Place just sickens me
DaveSamsonite
Whatever gets you through the night.

I don’t usually leave restaurant reviews at places I haven’t been to in 10 years

Now that's a very strong reason to boycott!
khora
McDonald’s would probably rather miss your orders than having death threats and pipe bombs for the next year.
notyoubizness
Is that the alternative??

Trump's fan club isn't chill.
Clockworkdancerobot
Them using prison slave labor is another.
FiftyShadesOfMascarpone
And then there is the "food", if you need yet another reason
SecretAgentSuperBooger
McD's was my first W-4 job @16. Avoided them since for all those reasons & more.
InevitableBadger
I mostly just don't go there because of the food. I could call it a boycott if that helps?
DaveSamsonite
I sure hope you plan to vote!
Timetoupdatemyusername
That's the line? Not the literal poison they are trying to stuff inside you?
DaveSamsonite
Are you the OP of this post using a second account? That would be so weird. You posted the same quote about McDonald’s pudding poison in their food under two different account names.

Does it have to be just one thing? Feeding us poison hasn't hurt them. Lets make supporting fascism hurt.
DaveSamsonite
Are you compensated to post anti-Mcdonald’s messages?
notyoubizness
Morally, yes. corporate support for Trump's fascism is a societal evil and should not be tolerated.
bigdix69420
Uhhhhhh dude McDonald's was bad before turdsandwich
alexstamat
I was already boycotting them over the poor quality of their food, now I also boycott them over the poor quality of their character.

... but now it fits their political goals. 😁
"trump badddd, macca bad"... NSS, they haven't changed in the 40 years I've been aware of them.

They havnt changed, aside from the size of the burgers getting smaller and the price getting higher. But wages are definitely the same!

It's a good reason to continue boycotting McDonald's

Is he GiantDouche or TurdSandwich?
notyoubizness
Yes, I agree. But explicitly boycotting them now, and getting others on board, sends the right message.

Ironically, most of the top advertisers on Fox News are insurance companies, we could’ve been boycotting them for decades.

I wonder what percentage of the readers of this post actually voted in 2022. And what percentage are actually registered to vote?
This is the last gasp for democracy. If Trump wins, we’re headed for permanent minority role by a Christo-fascist dictatorship.
Once people have registered to vote and made a commitment to vote, then we can go back to relaxing on Imgur
DaveSamsonite
I’m sure I am decades older than you. I’ve never missed voting on a single election - city, local, state, federal. How’s your voting record?

It’s not so fun when I point out that you are not voting either
I’m warning people about the risks of not voting . please vote and please tell any young voter you know to make sure they’re registered and vote.
Over 75% of young voters did not vote in 2022 in the midterm election and there why we lost the house of representatives

Half of that is correct, at least locally, they are hiring starting at 16+/hour and you can get a 1 bedroom apartment for less than 700/month.
I can't speak for everywhere in the country, but locally, the labor market has driven fast food and grocery store worker pay to be pretty ok.
