Turns out Reagan "not knowing" wasn't ENTIRELY a farce, and Bush H really didn't care at all.

Why do you think so many jim crow laws have been passed to ensure most texan votes are ignored?

3 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

um, need to prove that. I searched and didn't find anything conclusive. Education rankings are all over the place.

I moved from Virginia to NC. Went from 3rd in the nation to 33rd. Republican influence is real.

Sure, but have the white ruling class in Texas significantly increased their wealth? Please remember to think of them.

to anybody in texas.. is this fact blasted on every democrat political ad? or are they just as politically incompetent as every dem we blast on here for being politically ineffective/incompetent?

Gerrymandering really fucked us. As soon as Bush Jr took over the GOP started redrawing districts and running candidates who seemed like genuine conservative pundits. They emphasized that gerrymandering would make schools better, make communities safer, and that "more people would have access to polling locations". The Internet wasn't very prevalent in the early 90s and it took time to fact check. By the time people knew the truth, it was too late. And the GOP silenced naysayers by focusing 1/

On job creation by offering tax credits to companies willing to relocate to Texas. And with the gutting of public education, they've perpetuated this downward spiral since.

What am I missing here? No Bush was president from 1980 to 1988.

California has just about as many Republicans as Texas, but they don't matter since they cannot win elections generally, but they still work hard to poison everything they touch for personal gain.

When bush jr took over after her, the first thing he gutted was education. That was by design. This state is rampant with arrogant mouth breathers. Current governor has paved the way for christian private schools to indoctrinate. It's backfiring a bit as more families are pocketing the funding and homeschooling their kids so even some of the religious schools are shutting down along with the public schools.

Sure, TX kids may be functionally illiterate, but have you seen their $20 million football stadiums!!

Texas had a VERY strong socialist presence and the government literally executed them all, including whole fucking towns. https://communistusa.org/texas-history-of-class-struggle-part-1/

Or when it comes to taxing companies that own land. CA has the lowest homeownership rate in the nation because of its terrible property tax laws where you can buy an apartment block in the 80s and basically have the same low property tax amount for decades. It encourages investment while shutting out new buyers. TX is similar, but not as extreme.

No one with property wants to change this, because it might lower their home value.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

housing is also turbo expensive, and you just can't build housing without nimby's losing their shit.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like New Jersey charges 4x the property tax for second homes while giving people with only primary residences an exception and despite being the most densely populated state in the nation has a much higher home ownership rate because they made it difficult to buy homes as an investment.

I live in NV and we have the same, stupid property tax laws that CA has which encourages companies to buy up property to rent out, because you are taxed on the value of when you bought it, not what it's worth.

I actually won't be one bit surprised if we end up with a republican governor this year. Because of things like homelessness or crime.

Homelessness I get, but statistically crime rates are low in California.
