Vortex Spitfire

Vortex Spitfire.

While I do okay with red dots during the day, they have never been awesome for my eyes. Even worse since I had Lasik in 2014. The Vortex Spitfire is a Prism 1X scope w/ a etched reticle. You do not need to have the illumination on to engage a target. When you do turn on the illumination, I did not suffer from "starbusrting" that I often deal with on RDS

The spitfire allows you to focus the reticle.

It comes w/ flip up scope covers that I removed for the photos. On my SPARC II I left them off, but for the Spitfire I will leave them attached, as it has a lot more glass in it.

DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle

The DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle is designed for rapid shooting at close distances. The dual ring design pulls the eye into instant alignment with the reticle center and target. Etched directly on the prism to assure consistent point-of-aim at all times with selectable red/green illumination of five intensity levels to match specific conditions.

The Spitfire comes w/ an adjustable mount. Feels very sturdy.

I've not had a chance to put it though it's paces, but it feels like it will be up to the task.

Here is the illumination. I don't really care for the green, but I guess I don't have to use it.

Just poor camera skills here, the reticle is not blurry at all when the illum is turned on.

1 MOA adjustments are capped and attached to the optic.

Scope was easy to adjust at 25 and 50 yards.

Battery Cover is part of the illumination knob.

The spitfire runs off of 1 CR 2032 battery.

Hope this helps anyone looking at buying this vs other RDS or Prism 1X scopes. I bought mine as a factory refurb from Cabelas for $202. Street price is $299. Compared to the $499 Street Price of the Leopold Prismatic, the Spitfire seems pretty hard to beat.
