I moved to southern Texas for 2 years. Didn't want to transport my hives so gave them to neighbors. I'm back home now.

Drones are male, there are workers that are female. The queen is the only female that mates/lays eggs

1/2Wasps never interact with my bees. Not in 10 years. Neither do carpenter bees. You don't need much room at all. A small spot for a hive

They don't sting just because you're near. They only sting when threatened. A little smoke, common sense, and calm handling works for me

To them threatening is a lot of vibration, banging, swatting at them...and strangely the color black. The friggin hate it

Re: smoke. No. It doesn't calm them but it does inhibit pheromones which is one way they communicate.

Common theory is they think there's fire so they go into "salvage everything!" Mode. They gorge on the honey etc...which keeps them busy
