Cleaned Dam and Fixed Floodway. Part 2

This is about 8 months after the work from part 1. The grass hasn't grown as much as I would like. Birds and livestock would have eaten most of it. Dam has filled to capacity in the last 4 days from rainfall. It's also holding more water than previously.

Picture of old dam. Can see washed out land by the fence, as well as washed out land to the left by the large mound.

Grass is growing. Clay in some spots. Ground has been smoothed out and is solid enough to drive heavy machinery across it.

Pump shed. Took a educated guess of how high the water would get at capacity. Placed the pump a few feet above it. Letter box contains power outlet.

Drainage pipe that connects to a garden river system. Water recycles from the dam, to the river and back, oxygenating both.

Where the old floodway ditch was. Area is fenced off. Grass has grown over the top and trees are beginning to grow. Still a little boggy in spots.

New floodway. More of a spillway now. Water is being slowed down and gliding across the grass. Grass has grown better here but there are still bald patches. Note the 2 streams. Each connects to a dam that is over flowing. During floods the water through here will be at higher levels.

Bottom of the spillway. You can see the water is slowed considerably and spread out.

There is still some minor work to do. More grass seeds to sow and one of the banks needs a patch. (Slight erosion, needed more grass). I'm happy with how it turned out and I'm even happier that it's not eroding even more land away. Plus a bonus for me, now that the land has been reshaped, I'm collecting even more water in the dam.
