A few days ago I posted my photo of the northern lights over Goðafoss, Iceland. You guys requested a gif. Here it is!
I recently came back from a two week long adventure in Iceland. This was one of the incredible things I was lucky enough to see! I posted a photo of it here on Imgur (http://imgur.com/gallery/MdIrp) and someone replied saying "y u no gif". I realized they had a good point and that I have the files for it, so I threw this together!
For those curious this is made from 96 frames, each shot at f/2.8, 4 s, ISO 2000, 22 mm.

Next time you take a vacation go north! This waterfall is located in northern Iceland which is literally just below the arctic circle.

Then you want to go to the Kakslauttanen arctic resort in Finland. They have glass igloos where you can do just that. It's really neat

Usually kinda slow but I've seen them "dance" before, where the pattern was shifting constantly all over the sky. Source: I live in Alaska

This is essentially sped up since each frame is 4 seconds but from what I hear, the lights move very slowly but it's clearly visible

It depends. Often they move slowly, but on this night they were actually moving very quickly. 4 second exposures were almost too long!

Very quickly is relative though. They were moving much slower than my animation depicts.

My ticket to/from Iceland from Vancouver only cost $800. I think I bought it about five months ahead of time.
