When a puppy named Lexi started throwing up one day, her family assumed she just had an upset stomach. They took her to the vet — and discovered she had somehow swallowed an 8-inch-long steak knife and gotten it lodged in her esophagus.
The vets at Animal Referral Hospital had never seen anything like it before.
Dr. Jody Braddock and her team put an endoscope camera down Lexi's throat so they could see the serrated edge of the knife, and were then able to slowly pull the knife out with forceps without hurting Lexi. The process took 45 minutes — but miraculously, they succeeded.
Lexi spent the next three days in the hospital, and then was finally able to return home to make a full recovery.
Lexi's family is at a loss for how she got ahold of the knife in the first place, but they definitely plan to keep a watchful eye on the playful pup in the future.

If you're dumb enough to swallow a knife, maybe you're supposed to die.

Yes, natural selection was not allowed to happen here

From #3 all I can think from her expression "Fuck is wrong with this dog..."

My dog ate an entire pair of glasses once, managed to leave them intact.

The nurse holding her in the third image has an appropriate look of bewilderment and concern.

Beautiful pup. Glad everything worked out for the best.
Chhoy
Sounds about right, my pup swallowed a 6 inch skewer and almost cost me 3k. Lucky he coughed that shit up

The vet is like "How the hell did you let that happen, you shouldn't own a dog. Idiot."
BodaciousPony
Nah, vet probably was shocked they brought her in for an exam instead of trying to treat at home with online remedies...
nacko
I wouldn't have known to be worried. It seems so improbable (and one reported incident of it doesn't mean it is probable).
PeculiarOnionKnight
Little did they know Lexi was in the process of carrying out her elaborate murder plot
datsabigbitch
She is good and sweet, but kind of dumb
LynxInYourSynx
How the hell?
ImAMuppetofaMan
My dog ate a light bulb. Vet said to do nothing, since dogs' digestive system will go flat if there is a foreign object
Xneose
Knife probably smelled like food and you know what happens if you leave a dog unsupervised around food.

Is no one else wondering about the broken leg?
BodaciousPony
It's a wrap to help stabilize and protect her IV catheter. :)
AussieMuse
I don't think it's broken. Might be an IV under there and the bandage is stopping the dog from pulling it out
mikewill57
Oh. That does sound like something Lexi would do.

PooterTootExpress
Oh, don't be fooled, we have all that too, just a lot of lacquer stuff as well. And, we're the leading state in face eating.

And you're the home of Florida Man! We can't compete with that.
