If you were on the fence as to whether the P-40 was a beautiful plane, this will sway you. Gorgeous

P-40 Warhawk “Flying Tiger” - Used as medium range air-to-air fighters and tank busters later in the war. Absolute badass of a plane...

I just whispered "God that is sexy" - wife came over to verify and was disappointed.

Do not engage in a dogfight with a Zero. Attack from above and zoom back to altitude. Cannot out turn a Zero.

Or use superior tactics and rely on your wingman to employ the Thach Weave.

My name's Wild Bill Kelso, and don't you... shoot. OK, turn this tub around, you're taking me to Tokyo. Anybody got a light?

We’re going to need a bigger plane.

Is that real life? I can’t tell anymore

7 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 1

yeah, but it's the last picture he ever took.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm going to go with real, but with some photoediting (just touchups). Could be comp-generated still, but if so very high end designer

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is this just fantasy?

Caught a crossfire, no escape from reality.

It’s real. War thunder doesn’t come close

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Way too much fine detail on the plane, also the ground is not just the same 5 generic things thrown together.

Probably one of the most underrated fighters of WWII! Carried the load early on.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty much obsolete by 1942: but pretty with them shark teeth.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So instead of dogfighting is it a shark attack?

Curtis's P40 Kittyhawk - the Flying Tigers :D

7 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

P40 indeed. Do you know how to tell the different versions apart so that we know it's a kittyhawk? I don't. Just curious :D

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh I don't, it's just what the Flying Tigers used, so I'm assuming more based on the nose art

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Tigers had P-40Bs the B's had 2 nose mounted .50 cals which you can't see on this plane so it has to be a D or higher

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always heard it called a Warhawk. Or is that just another P40 variant?

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Warhawk is what the US name is Brits called the B & C models Tomahawks and the D models Kittyhawks

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All the US planes are named Warhawk. Brits en ussr named it Tomahawk en after version D Kittyhawk
