Now thousands of imgurians thinks there's an acid that dissolves spoons in mere seconds. GJ OP.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, the spoon is at least partially dissolving (some of the alloyed aluminum becomes aluminum hydroxide) so... TECHNICALLY accurate?

Did you even watch the video for the spoon? It's faked. The acid is room-temp watered down Mountain Dew. The spoon isn't aluminium.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

my bad, I didn't watch the entire thing before i made the gif

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Its like 30 seconds long

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

It's more of a trick than faked cause they fill you in at the end.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've asked this about the last video before but had no response. Does the individual holding the tube feel the weight of the magnet?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The last effect is due to electromagnetic induction currents. The magnet moving through the tube (pulled by gravity) causes change in (1/?)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

magnetic flux through the tube. Lenzs law says that "nature hates change" and induces a current in the tube, which in turn creates an (2/3)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

opposing magnetic field. The magnet falls slower because its own magnetic field interacts with the newly created external one. Magnets! (3/3

No

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The first one i believe read that it isnt just the acid, the spoon is made from a special material making it able to dissolve

You would be putting your balls in Mountain Dew. Because that's what that "acid" is.

Man I would hate to be the person that had to sit in the car with you and drive you to school.

It always makes me think of the episode of Full House where Joey was substituting Michelle's class, and he did that trick with a match

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That was my actual project. Hot water method vs match method lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same here but instead of going to all the trouble of boiling water, we just used a match in the bottle to create the vacuum.

My 6th grade science project was on the Foucault pendulum. I rigged a very primitive version of it. I thought the idea of the Earth...

Soft boiled egg, the whole thing is delicious.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ew, no. White is terrible. Yolk for the win though

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i've tried and tried to understand. I just can't. But I accept that some people are wrong.

Tons of ways to have eggs though. Scrambled alone tastes different from country to country (different styles).

Im pretty sure that spoon is gallium or mercury, you can see it melts and beads up as the acid disolves is and creates heat.

9 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 3

Likely gallium, mercury is liquid at room temp. But since he's wearing gloves and there is gas produced, there might be some acid-metal rxn

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the strongest acid, known as mountain dew.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why does a mercury spoon even exist??

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It doesn't. It's gallium. Mercury solidifies around -40, not a temperature you want to handle.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Heck.. Even the strongest acid takes many hours to dissolve even human flesh and bone.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What do you recommend for that? Asking for a friend who's a little tied up at the moment.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If they are tied up, then you shouldn't have much issue.. About 48 hours total and there is complete dissolving on flesh and bone.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea, gallium will melt in regular tap water, so that's most likely.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gallium Aluminium alloy in mountain dew.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I watched the video, and it's gallium. The so called *acid* is actually lukewarm mountain dew.

I worked for Pepsi. Some lazy sanitation worker tossed a container of old chlorine tabs or something like that into the dumpster. Cont.

9 years ago | Likes 933 Dislikes 6

2. Theres soda covered everything in the dumpster. Evacuation ensued and a hazmat team had to be called in. It made the news.

Wouldn't that kind of have happened even if there was no soda? Like if there was... any moisture at all? Chlorine is serious shit.

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

There was a designated area for chemicals of any time. Its an osha standard. I dont know why he decided to toss it in the dumpster.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Exactly. Tossing chlorine tabs in any kind of enclosed space means the next guy to open it will get a face full of lying down for an hour.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Depending on how much you dump and where it'll either do nothing or annoy the lifeguard.
