Buddy told you after Fast and Furious 1 came out. People putting Nos in their car without any other upgrade started coming in a lot

Don't worry Fernando ... we'll get a Renault engine next year . McLaren shall rise again .

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, there's your problem.

As far as i'm aware, 5k to 10k is fine.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yikes

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just needs a little blue pill.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

kylo ??

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10k changes with an excellent oil/filter is doable. Not with 18 lbs of boost though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When ya dick slides out but she keep sittin down on it

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

See kids, this is what happens when you don't keep your tires properly inflated.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Piston is where piston ought not be.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

European ... oil change between 10k and 30k, most models. No issues

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

looks expensieve

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

total rebuild at the very least, and the block itself was probably stressed by the event, so better to just replace it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

aye Dios mio!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have one and only one question. How?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like the bang rod slid out of the boom shaft, then by the power of the other bang rods, the hole thing fuckered off sideways.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

crank it up

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that is the reason you should go with forged connecting rods instead of cast when running lots of boost

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My CW Jetta maintenance schedule said oil changes were every 10k. My Passat is every 5k, but it's because it's turbo.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Err, VW

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What am I looking at

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Something very expensive. Its a bent piston, engine is screwed and will required replacement of the piston at the very least.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From piston to pistoff on 2 seconds

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Could someone explain what is happening in this photo? Also how many miles should I be waiting between changes?

9 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 2

Depends, check your car's manual. Traditional oil = 3k miles/6 months (whichever comes first). Synthetic varies, mine's every 12k miles.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Follow your manufacturers guidance in the owners manual, maybe a little sooner depending on the driving conditions.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They say every 3k, but thats for stop and go all day traffic. depending on year, you can probably go 5-6 as long as you change filter @ 3k

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Assuming you're not leaking oil or anything like that. But if you're ever in doubt, just go every 3k, but dont be TOO worried if you go over

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No lube destroys internals. 5000 regular oil 10 to 15k full synthetic

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have no former knowledge on this whatsoever, but it looks like the piston was somehow caught on the edge at high speed 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 and warped by high pressure.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@ciaozzza this is mostly likely the result of a knock event (pre detonation of the fuel) which can happen when cars are running high boost.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

And they didn't run race gas (very high octane gasoline, prevents detonation)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

piston got bended. this kills the piston. also bt 3k and 10k miles you should change oil depending on how new ur car is

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

The bar that holds the piston while the piston goes up and down has been bent by the massive force of whatever was burned in that engine

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the UK? Like 10 - 15k miles

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Increased boost and didn't use race gas, had detonation. Cylinder go boom.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

http://www.tv2.no/a/6129523/ its Norwegian news but this guy ran his car 300 000km without oil/filterchange

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a 2006 VW Jetta, TDI Diesel, and it takes 5W-40 synthetic, owners manual specifies every 10k miles, but I typically go 7-8k.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait...so I've been extra careful because I usually get mine changed every 2.5k miles? I thought I was reckless!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're wasting money, not being reckless.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why do all my cars break then? I must have really awful luck with cars. That's depressing.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poor quality fuel can cause issues. Any alcohol contaminates in low grade fuel can change the properties of the oil.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been told changing it too much can damage the engine pretty well. No idea why. Internal parts are affected by it, not external btw.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So like alternator, water pump, etc, those just...break over time. Besides that, you could just be running too hard on the cars.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still do the factory recommend every 3k. But I drive maybe 4500 miles a year at present so it is mainly to keep the oil fresh.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you ever feel not so fresh down there? Remember to change oil frequently.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends. On my 95 Blazer, i did 4k with a synthetic blend. On my 16 Charger, i plan 5-6k.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

5K on my '16 Challenger

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

01 Blazer I do mine every 3kish

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

FullSynth

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was never brave enough to do full. She had a verybslow leak that didn't show until 4k. About a quart dropped after that far on my blend

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does your charger have the hemi or 3.6

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Homie i wish i had a Hemi. SO said no. So I'm stuck with the 3.6.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well if you ever get one make sure to only put premium gas in. With the 3.6 have your oil change done every 5k. Source I work for dodge

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait! I have the 5.7 Hemi, why only premium fuel?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No shit? I was thinkin Plus grade at minimum. Thanks man.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Average oil change is around 3k miles. Some oils and newer cars can go longer. I seen some other day that said 5k mile oil.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There is 20k Mobil one at every store now

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Our odyssey just did almost 10k before telling me to change. Full synthetic FTW.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is actually a cultural thing in US, for instance in most of Europe 10k kilometers is considered the proper interval

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can find the actual interval in your cars manual or in oil spec, use the shorter of the two.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mazda recommends 20K km on their recent cars. No way I'd do it every 3 months.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My BMW will do 18 k between changes.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So does mine. Can't understand a change every 3000 miles, that seems ridiculous.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oil and filter are cheaper. My Miata is 3-4k but costs $4 for the filter and just over 3qts.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends on how much u love your car. Standard conventional oil max life 3000 miles and filter, full synthetic max life 10k .

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Amsoil is 25k :P

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Amsoil is good stuff but extremely expensive. I doubt this guy would buy it. There are many variables to your pil choices. Cast iron, alumin

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha yeah it really is.. I only use their gear oil and then Mobil 1 for motor oil. Amsoil is so friggen hard to find where I live too..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Zinc or none. Still 25k is a lot on a filter, your choice my friend

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oil doesn't go bad it just gets contaminated. I recommend half of those numbers and never over fill.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can't blanket statement these things. My Merc is every 10k, my Yota is just fine at 7.5k with synthetic. Get you oil tested to be sure.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

found the penzoil employee

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Over filling depends on the motor and what younare doing with it. 1 quart extra on track days for my LS2 is a MUST

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am pretty sure the guy asking about when to change his oil is not a racer hitting high g takeoffs and continued corners... lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was only giving general advice for average drivers, special driving requires different rules.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3k for conventional, 5k for synthetic blend, 7.5k for full synthetic. But it also depends on your driving habits and filter choice.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mobil has a synthetic oil that they claim lasts 20k or 1 year. But it's 60 bucks for 5 quarts.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

After we got married, I gave my wife's CR-V it's first oil and filter change. The car had 30,000 miles. God Bless Honda.

9 years ago | Likes 498 Dislikes 1

i bought an Elantra brand new and the first time i changed the was some time after the 60k mile mark, still ran great

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's sad that Honda don't have that kind of reliability in F1

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

she sure sounds like your average cr-v owner

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I drove my old piece of shit Ford Windstar for about 3 months without any antifreeze in it. That thing would not die.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

had a 96 aerostar. That thing was beast. Overheated to the point where it turned itself off. fired up a few hours later. would not die

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some full synthetic oil (see Amsoil) is actually rated for 25,000 miles. You just need to change the filter to clean the carbon.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My Mitsubishi once went 40,000km without any maintenance or breakdowns. Then I sold it to some guy on Craigslist.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I wonder how that worked out for him...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ok but many girls take care of our cars, we're broke af can't afford the consequences of no upkeep

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I know girls who are way worse with cars at upkeep than my redneck friends who treat theirs like it's their entirety, even when broke to hel

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yea my point was you take care of your car if you're too broke to buy another one did you not get it?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did not.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I gave my wife's 4runner first spark plug, gear oil and fuel filter change at 270k. Turns out it can go faster than 60 without a misfire

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

She did bring it in for service every 6 months, they just didn't do shit.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Got my first scooter... 34,000Km on the clock, last service was at 180

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had my Ford Ranger for 12 years never broke down once with minimal upkeep. I think I changed the oil twice

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

I knew a guy that did that, Is your last name stanaland?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahaha no

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He worked with me, probably had 100-120k miles on his Ranger on original oil. No joke. He told us and we were like GO GET IT CHANGED NOW.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahaha crazy!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My old ranger ran better without oil.. oil just made it smoke and sputter. Ran fine without. Lol

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I once went to change a Toyota trucks oil, the dipstick was completely dry, no one had even checked in years.

9 years ago | Likes 146 Dislikes 1

God Bless Toyota. i had a 1995 Camry I bought used in 2007 w 40K miles on it. Put 300K miles on it for work before it was impounded.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She would add a quart when the light came on, but that was all the love it got

9 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 0

Bought a 87 toyota 4x4 (hilux) with 250k miles. Oil games out like cold syrup and super burnt. Ran fine until I sold it at 350k miles.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I once checked the stick in our Fiat Punto that my brother drives. Bone dry...

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Of course, the light wasn't on for some italian reason.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

all that oil is heavy, just slows the car down

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not the worst maintenance. Does she do the same for you?

9 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Sadly, I don't seem to leak much

9 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

You just wait a few years.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Step 1... get a light.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

You are a good man, Jeff.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That looks like hydro lock. Water doesn't compress very well.

9 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 3

Hydrolock is exactly what I was thinking

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope. Increased boost and didn't use race gas, had detonation.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's what I was thinking as well.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like jay Leno any time he talks about his steam cars.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's probably more like a knock knock joke, if it was running big boost.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Higher boost would result in a knock event especially if they were running pump gas.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Water is just incomprehensible

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Technically not, but without going to extremes then basically it is

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Whoosh

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Typo or not, I'm gonna upvote that. And use it as a motto.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Na. Water as well as everything else is compressible. Just takes alot of energy for minimal compression.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Whoosh

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Looks like me and about 4 other people misread that. Incomprehensible. Funny.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yea, my first thought too, In my experience more boost will blow holes in pistons and headgaskets not bend conrods.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

At the shop a bad coolant leak will destroy a power assembly like that.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends on the engine. A VW 1.8T will bend the stock rods around 300 wtq, but everything else is good for a lot more.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I main experience is with Nissan engines, So the first job with the 1.8T is a set of rods then ? How far will they go after ?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rods and bearings can get you to 500ish. If you do pistons too, sky is the limit on that crank and block.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup, rods are always first if you plan on breaking 300 wtq. I haven't been into modding VWs in a while so my recollection is hazy, but I 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

want to say everything else is good for 500+ whp with around 400 wtq.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
