If you bump a curb or ever have an accident where there was contact with a front tire or wheel, manufacturer guidelines require the replacement of the full steering rack at an addition $2500-3500.
You better buy a car that is common in your area. That does significantly cut a maintenance costs. Among other things due to ample supply of used parts. Also original parts are not overpriced so hard because of storage expense. Or if you want to be exotic, be ready to pay an exotic price. There is no such thing as a free lunch.
Also brand new edition/redesigns will likely not have parts because they are all used for production. The more common the car, the easier the parts are to get and they should also be lower cost. Keep that in mind next time you decide between a Mazda or a toyota.
I have a 2022 kia k5 and a 2011 gmc terrain. No problems here. Even when I replaced my condenser on the terrain a few years back with a radiators plus A/M part.
