I'm a microbiologist and I can confirm... they walk among us. There were colleagues who had to leave because they refused to get vaccinated because... well they were/are MAGA. I was in grad school with someone who believed the earth was only 6000 years old.... As much as you think it would, education can't cure stupid.

The wife's father was a scientist who flat fuck refused to believe in the moon landing.

My BIL is a young earth creationist and also has a masters degree in both chemistry and physics. WTF?

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not about logic, it's about feeling part of an in-group. It's emotional.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i worked with a young earther. as a petroleum geologist at exxon.

There was some universally known moron in chat long ago who used to call people who understood that planets were not fucking flat "globetards". Yes, American.

I’ve met a geologist who works for an oil company that is a YEC.

At uni, a fellow biology student was an evangelical Christian.
He brought his beliefs to an exam in evolution, which he then failed.

Someone was attempting to explain to me earlier that George Carlin supported their political group.

The guy who hated all political groups and encouraged people to, not vote, because it was meaningless.

9/10 people only really hear what they wanna hear which is the cause of 10/10 of our problems.

I work with managers who don't make decisions.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's normal though, at least half of them likely failed upwards or are so long with the company they have been automatically promoted no matter if they can do it or not.

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I used to teach university microbio. I'd get 1-2 vocal antivaxxers a semester. Most of my students were pre-med or pre-nursing. Terrifying.

My sister, the daughter of an immigrant to the US, voted for Trump.

I work with a moon landing denier. We work for the US Air Force, co-located with a NASA facility.

I served as meteorologist, meet a couple who didn't believe in climate change.

Then our officer had a conversation with them.

Guy had a PhD from the USAF Academy and got his doctorate with his research into climate change.

I once asked a libertarian who was a NYC fireman how he justifies his employment when there are rivers so close by and buckets are readily available.

4 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I worked for a vice president at a space company who was a moon landing denier. And honestly that's pretty tame as far as the conspiracy theories he was into, but like... we worked for a space company.

4 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Not believing the moon landing took place is more about a distrust in the regime, media and "narrative" than a disbelief in space travel.

Definitely. Also, a Libertarian is a person who'd rather pay $35,000 to a company for a service rather than pay $200 in taxes for the government to provide the same service but better.

The... BEST animal... is able to survive out of the system as cats are the only animal able to return to living in the wilds all by themselves. Libertarians barely survive a bad day at the stock markets.

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Cats, dogs, goats, pigs, parakeets, horses and goldfish can all successfully go feral . . . after sustaining a substantial die-off.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...ya know thats true. At least for parakeets and similar birds held as pets. We got a "plague" of tropical birds around here because they broke free somewhere and spread. ...but domesticated dogs? Not so sure. ...and goldfish... eehh

I would also describe them as people that were called gifted in middle school in upper middle class households. Who are currently training to become the next big altright podcaster. Also just straight up pedophiles, like not even hiding it. Like running for office in local elections on a platform to lower the age of consent. If I had a nickel for every time a libertarian tried to rally the public against the age of consent I would have pizza money.

4 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No, house cats are smarter. They know they're dependent on a system, they just don't care. They have people for that.

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Please don't insult the second best animal like that

4 months ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 7

I feel like these are just facts about cats.

It's not wrong though. I love my furry little ones, but they're all assholes.

Dogs

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well, only if OP is a son of a bitch, since dogs are clearly #1. Then cats, dolphins, capybaras, maras, bunnies, owls, and i'm sure homo sapiens is somewhere in the list, eventually.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

You misspelled badgers as "dogs", which is hilarious with how low dogs are on the top 20, lol.

4 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You know, I never wanted to fight a badger before. Now I see the appeal.

How many Trump cultists have young daughters?

4 months ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 4

Plenty. They need sacrifices, after all.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doesn't matter. Their life philosophy is "As long as it's not happening to me or anyone I care about, it's not real."

4 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately they likely dont care about their daughters as people.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They don't have daughters they have future date rapes

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The daughters they giddily fantasize about protecting violently from any boy that looks at her wrong but would happily allow in the same room as Trump?

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They bring them to Trump at an easter event where he hits on them.

4 months ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

*hits them

4 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'm not young, but I'm a daughter who was sexually abused while young. My father wanted to be violent towards my abuser. Now he's a Trump cultist, and once made me cry in public defending Brett Kavanaugh.

I just found out my daughter-of-a-Japanese-immigrant, lesbian acquaintance is anti-trans and an islamaphobe. I pointed out that every complaint she made about either group has been made about all three of the demographics she belongs to. It was a very disappointing day.

4 months ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 3

I had a manager once who was a lesbian republican pro-trumper. A young non-binary individual was hired, and the manager was immediately against using their preferred pronouns. Their reasoning were all the talking points anti-LGBTQ folks would use against her and her wife.

She also traveled to Texas during Covid and in the aftermath of that horrible storm they had. Her reasoning was the tragedy made travel there cheaper. No family or anything. Just a cheaper travel place for her vacation.

Brexit happened while back. They're everywhere.

Bold of you to assume all the world's idiots exist within the confines of one country. Stupidity knows no bounds.

4 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

No, sadly this idiocy is present in other countries too.

You realize 'everywhere' includes the US, right? Or are you one of those idiots thinking their country has no idiots?

Knew a radiation control tech who was a young earth creationist. Just a little odd, considering that radioactive decay is how we know the earth is older than 6,000 years old.

4 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Obviously, God carefully adjusted the balance of radioisotopes in everything he created 6000 years ago to make most things seem much older than they actually are, to test our faith. Kinda like those pre-distressed denim jeans that have strategically torn knees already when you buy them brand-new.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't understand that Earth is 6000 years old idea when skipping the 6000 count then this was the point when Adam and Eve was banished from Eden. And quite simply the location where they were banished to was older including existing people already there.

So that seems to say nothing about how old Earth is.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

My understanding is, those people who think the world is only 6000 years old for some biblical reason don't intersect those people who apply critical thought or go back to first principles. Somebody told them that's what is said in the bible, and that's what they believe.

My sister was kicked out of nursing school for being an anti vaxxer, during covid.

4 months ago | Likes 499 Dislikes 2

It's sad to say but nurses are some of the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet.

4 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 16

My cousin and his wife both worked in medical field during covid, one at icu. Both antivaxxers

4 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My cousin is still a nurse. Watching Fox News. In Canada.

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I look at any person working in a hospital who doesn't wear a mask as an idiot. The worst shit shows up at hospitals

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The antivaxx nurses got real quiet during COVID, but they've been coming back out more and more. It's fucking disheartening. Like bitch you stood next to me and watched people die, then you watched it stop when the vaccine came. Wtf is wrong with you?

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work in EMS you would not believe the amount of people in this field who are anti vax (Covid) but have all the other vaccines and the amount who think it wasn't that bad just a bad cold like you were here you worked through this you SAW the deaths wtf!

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Man I've worked with a lot of nurses and most are fine but damn you will find some absolute mental gymnastics to entertain some of their beliefs

4 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Registered Nurse, good. She was failing to meet the minimum requirements of the profession.

4 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Hilarious. Good

4 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm AS, but I can tell you right now, even IF those caused the condition, it's better than being close to Death's door with a deadly disease you have the chance to prevent. Listen to the doctors, people. They know what they're doing.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From a UK perspective, doctors have a reasonable idea of what they are doing, but nurses have little appropriate medical training - they're there to do saline drips, transfusions, bloodwork and monitoring. I do apologise if I have maligned any UK nurses out there and would like to have my worldview expanded.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even if it wasn't better, if it stops other people dying....

Reframe this, would you give 1 person a disability to stop 2 people dying?

Honestly I think we just need move on and start vaccinating anti vaxxers like other dangerous animals; via dart gun.

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had a doctor who thought evolution was a made up lie and tried to argue that God did it. I asked for a different doctor.

4 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

What a wild profession to choose. Just like the Military, the medical profession largely mandates vaccines.

4 months ago | Likes 393 Dislikes 2

Yes, at least they caught her before she could do any real damage.

4 months ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 1

She can have kids and spread diseases through them. She probably will. She can vote Trump or Trumps replacement into presidency the next election. Still plenty of ways for her to do real damage.

4 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

I'm a nurse and I support that action.

4 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Good, hopefully she's is never allowed to practice any kind of medicine. Sorry bro but your sister is a dangerously ignorant moron.

4 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No need to apologise for telling the truth dude, she's always been a moron, I cut ties with her after she voted for bush, twice, because and only because he claimed to be pro-life, didn't seem to matter to her that he started several wars.

My ex wife, an RN since 2006 is an antivaxxer. She is super intelligent but apparently a complete idiot

4 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My girlfriend is an RN working in eastern Washington, and about half of the nursing staff she works with are antivax, as are several of the doctors. It's mind boggling.

4 months ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

I worked in Eastern WA for 11 years. The amount if antivax bullshit that side of the state can produce just has to be experienced to be believed. Along with trump lovers, nazis across the border in Idaho, flat earth nutjobs, and farmers that overwhelmingly voted for Trump somehow thinking their business wouldn't be impacted. I'm glad I moved.

4 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

You know, I don't actually mind if farmers get replaced with robots.

Lived in Seattle and was testing fire departments. Opted to test in Spokane. Went for a week to check it out. Weirdest vibes ever. Just couldn't place it, but it just had bad juju everywhere I turned. Hard pass

outside. Said was a giant pillar, flat on top. inside was hollow with yggdrasil hanging on the inside, all its branches growing up and out making all the trees in the world.

Which, sounds like an wesome RPG world, but reality... not.. so... yeah..
