My favorite picture of the day.
The beautiful Waimea Bay during the Eddie Aikau Surfing Competition.
The Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau event is only held when waves in Waimea Bay top 20 feet, which hasn't happened since 2009. Waimea only gets huge swells in the winter, so organizers block out a three-month window from December to February and hope for a Pacific storm.

While I was packing up my bag to move (of course) a wave so huge came by that ALL the jetski's had to race for shore. No one could go over it. Crazy, there was like 7 of them madly booking it to land.

@OP Did you take these pictures? I watched a few hours worth of it and most of these waves had a butt hole pucker rating of over 9000.

The clean up wave after the Jet Ski's headed for shore was crazy. It appeared to sweep up everyone but a couple lucky souls.
