Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.

Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.

We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever.

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.

We're made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself.

The universe is a pretty big place. If it’s just us, seems like an awful waste of space.

The size and age of the Cosmos are beyond ordinary human understanding. Lost somewhere between immensity and eternity is our tiny planetary home.

Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

The Cosmos is all that is or ever was or ever will be.

Across the sea of space, the stars are other suns.

The time was fast approaching when Earth, like all mothers, must say farewell to her children.

My descendants are going to surf light-waves in space.

The universe seems neither benign nor hostile, merely indifferent.

I believe our future depends on how well we know this Cosmos in which we float like a mote of dust in the morning sky.

When you make the finding yourself - even if you're the last person on Earth to see the light - you'll never forget it.

It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Youre capable of such beautiful dreams and such horrible nightmares.

To be the first to enter the cosmos, to engage, single-handed, in an unprecedented duel with nature—could one dream of anything more.

The time will come when man will know even what is going on in the other planets and perhaps be able to visit them.

There is perhaps no better a demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world.

I'm pretty sure some of these pics were made by Beeple, should go check him out! https://twitter.com/beeple

About 70% are Carl Sagan, bit of an idol of mine, the rest are ones I have saved in a notepad from things collected. Sorry I could do more

Was this just a game ad..?

I can’t tell if this is a “Science fiction illustration pics” dump with words so there are no ads or a words dump with pics so no ⬇️ votes?

Every one of these was worth pausing and thinking about. The art was an added bonus that complimented the thoughts. Excellent post, thanks.

Yes, we're made of star-stuff. But we are also made of ostrich poop.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's true that we're made of star stuff, but so is garbage.

This puts things in perspective. Much like Kurzgesagt does on its youtube channel, in a scientifical/pedagogical way. Such existential dread

I'd like it a lot better if I could find SOME GODDAMN ANTIMATTER OR THE BLUEPRINT!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The main story line gives that to you in the first ten hours. Only needs chromatic metal and condensed carbon to make. Also the housing.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gotta push through the main questline to get blueprints.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, there's two of you at least.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

It’s a lot better now. Basically at the level we thought it would be at release.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Still full of bugs, but definitely closer to the aim for it than it was.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I heard it's improved, I'm still gonna need a lot more convincing that I can trust my money in that developer though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm the most resistant person re:shit companies, and I got it for my and my friend. Wooshing about space shenanigans. Is ok.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hmm maybe I'll see about a demo or something

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So years after, when they’re getting ready to move on and drop it, they’re barely at what they promised for original release? Grats, I guess

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's my concern. Why fund them if this is their standard of work?
