open water course

teaching is fun. you start in the classroom, and proceed to either pool or in the shallow water and end up in the blue. or green. end up with people who know how to solve problems with their gear and diving buddies.

diving and looking at fish is a bit different than interacting with dolphins. it literally feels like we are the exhibit.

fish can be pretty cool sometimes too. just minding their own business.

sometimes the currents turn visibility into zero in no time, and you don't want to lose your students. better grab something and finish doing the skills.

while diving, you'll meet interesting fish. and then you part your ways and never meet again.

ending dive with a 3 minute safety stop. usually i pass the time by peeing my suit. i dont do drysuit.

backlight, silt and funky cave with a couple of fish usually end up pretty nice.

going inside a sunken ship from a hole torn by a torpedo is pretty exiting. remember to bring your flashlights. and backup.

in a wreck, tilted on its side, the doorway and window point directly up, with a school of fish infront. had to stop and wait some time for the fish to get in position.

can you imagine the captain in there, keeping an eye for the ice bergs?

you don't wan't to end up on the surface between two close by ships. real danger lies when you are ending a dive, and your near empty tank has turned into a floatation device and the last couple of meters of water might just pop you up unless you have enough weight on your belt.

when your instructors go for a fun dive, its not what you'd probably expect. there was underwater cayaking, epic slow-mo battles, underwater barber shops and stuff. happy days.

sometimes you just have to stop and enjoy the view.
