It's Potassium Permanganate color, disappearing almost instantly upon contact with a Sulfuric acid solution

Wear some gloves science dick head

Does it work with blood. Asking for a friend. Distant friend. Soon. #justjoking

"So now we're gonna dye the water pur- hey! Stop that! I said stop!"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wasn't it just H2O2 though...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Put some glycerin in there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Potassium pomegranate's my favourite colour

Im pretty sure that is a hydrogen peroxide solution

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

since op is a bundle of sticks, here is the sauce. https://www.youtube.com/user/periodicvideos

KMNO4 ; why has that stuck in my brain.

https://media.giphy.com/media/ysG9ImqgMDc6k/giphy.gif did anyone else think of this?

When I use bleach cleanser on mold, where does the black "go?"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This pleases me. +1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope....nop.....nooooooooooope

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this a recipe for lean?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, this is just reversed. You can't fool me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So now it's safe to drink?

Sauce: https://youtu.be/Kln0v_L5ExE If the Tim's find this freebooting you're in trouble!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's actually hydrogen peroxide . Not sulphuric acid . Get your chemistry right . https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OLUyeCC-2Ko

Used in water treatment as an oxidizer to remove fine particulate of Iron, Manganese and smell Also used to stop bacterial growth

8 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 0

So I shouldn't stick my dick in it?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also used in nuclear plants as decontamination chemical to cleanse steel objects. Source: I worked in decontamination.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I love permanganates.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thought you were playing it in reverse at first

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MnO4- is a strong Oxidising Agent. So it will get Reduced by almost anything. The degree of reduction varies. In acids it will form Mn2+ 1/

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Which is colourless. MnO4- + 5 e- + 8 H+ --> Mn2+ + 4 H2O. In Neutral solution brown MnO2. MnO4- + 3 e- + 4 H+ -->MnO2 + 2 H2O. 2/

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

And in Basic solution Green MnO4 2-. MnO4- + e- -->MnO4 2-. 3/

Thank you, iBangYourFace.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Nice explanation.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Serious question. I didn't notice the level of acid increase in the beaker. Why? Did it break down entirely?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please explain? Is the purple stuff a pH indicator and the clear stuff a buffer or something.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So the purple stuff is a base, with a lot of pH indicator in it, indicating acid (clear/colourless) to base (dark purple) 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When the dark purple base is added to the acidic solution, the acid solution gets a tiny bit more basic, because of the base added. 2/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

However, it isn't basic enough to turn purple, so it stays clear/colourless. In sections where there is residual purple leftover 3/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that sectopm of the solution has more basic solution in it than the other parts, thus why it is purple. Put the whole bottle of base in 4/5

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and the acidic solution will most likely turn basic enough to turn a bit purple, or entirely purple. Good enough explanation? 5/5

Reminds me of titration labs in chemistry. God how I hated those.

8 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 4

My high school teacher always said: you gotta have good titration skills.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meanwhile I finished the lab and did it again for fun and more data. Did only get a C though, no one's perfect.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do titration for a living

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyone did. God bless those poor souls that have yet to do them

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

God how I wish we could have just tipped the bottle straight in for the first 95% of a titration.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We did that most of the time in school. There was always a calculation involved in the process, so we had knew how much to let in.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So much this

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Were called "Tröpfelpraktikum" - "Drip work experience" in our faculty.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can sympathize. I remember one day where one of my classmates took the base solution and showed it to the teacher saying he thought he 1

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2 finished, and she said he was. He hadn't even added anything to it

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Drip Drip Drip dripdrip Drip - FUCK. Start over.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Just make sure you use a good clamp. Was stuck with a purple hand for a week after an accident with one.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unpopular opinion: Titrations were fucking awesome

8 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 3

There are two of us

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I never minded them

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At school there were a group of people in my class who loved titrations and called themselves the 'Titration Nation'.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I still remember potassium permanganate (I think) staining my skin for a long time when I broke a flask full when I dropped it. Purple lyfe.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not when they're your job. What a massive pain in the hoop

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I service over 100 residential pools every week. Titration like it's going out of style

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Get an auto titrator, takes like 3 minutes. Including the math.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I enjoyed them! I also loved doing the equations.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Liking stoichiometry is the most unpopular opinion you can have about chem class.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was like brain massage. But I also enjoyed calculus, for the same reason.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll be honest, stoichiometry was fun, I enjoyed the brainwork. Also love math for the same reason.
