I work for the NHS and this is still so true. So many people just don't take ownership over their health, it is beyond frustrating
BearToof
And I find it's particularly worse when the care is free or cheap, they have no skin in the game and the world owes them everything.
I've worked at non profits and the like so that's just been my experience. Of course their are always some grateful people

Veterinarian or military veteran? I've been broken the past few days with people using vet as shorthand for both.
Sorry, veterinarian. Vet referring to veteran isn't often used in the UK so I forget that sometimes!

Absolutely true. But in my case it was a mid foot sprain. Naproxen, xray, and surgical boot. But he never examined my foot. 1/2
So he didn't catch the tendon damage that the podiatrist did a month later
The surgical boot made walking excruciating, and with no explanation of what was wrong or why it would help it was pretty hard to keep using

Die, or spend your life savings on a visit for a sprained ankle and end up homeless.
But why would you go to the Dr for a sprained ankle? To my understanding they might just wrap it and say take it easy for a couple weeks
MrPoopyDickButt
I broke my finger, off to the food bank for me!
It's more of a quality of life thing.I could die, or I could live a little longer in pain and poverty. Obv exaggeration, but that's the gist
So find a not for profit hospital in your area and go there, they have charity options.
A majority of hospitals in the US are non-profit. The problem still stands. Many do the bare minimum to achieve non-profit status.
"Bare minimum" I work for a non profit and I wrote off nearly 50 million on my own last year. Im on a team of over 20 people doing the same.
Zyrixion
Only 6k? Where do you live, canada?
Yeah, You hear so many stories about that. People who get operations they cant afford and their life goes to shit. Death is better than that

I have the opposite happen. I’m a patient and I have had countless doctors refuse to treat me or they have given me drugs that aren’t meant1
Maybe because you're crazy and don't know what you're taking about? I have Paitents who "self diagnose" and they're wayyyy off.
4. I would start off by telling them Motrin is useless on me. But their theory is that it will work now bc it’s a new dr. Is this how you
*5 not 4
6. Would help your patients? If they say, “hey so I tried to take drug A and it didn’t work” would you then say to take drug A again?
So they immediately stop listening when I tell them what I have and what I need. They decided to put me on fibro meds that everyone who has2
EDS knows don’t work for muscle tears and dislocations. There’s a reason when someone dislocated their shoulder due to injury, drs don’t 3
Give out gabapentin or cymbalta even! (Yeah I was given that too). I was given so many and even Motrin every single time I got a new dr. 4
I was diagnosed by a geneticist at U of M. My joints dislocate all the time. I can’t make it up. So many drs don’t even know what EDS is 1
cheshirecat00
Try replying to your own comment so we know the order like 1/2 then reply 2/2 when finished,or start with 1/4, then 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 ect
I usually do but my app glitched up and wouldn’t let me reply to comment #1 and I wanted it to stay consistent. Sorry :/
For a person with my conditions (just to fill their wallets). I failed a semester of school bc they put me on fibro drugs to treat my pain2
Bc these fibro drugs wouldn’t cause addiction (turns out they do!) and they fucking didntbelieve me that my joints dislocate easily. So 3/?
They found it easier to make up a fake DX on me so they could give me bad drugs. They didn’t believe me bc I’m in my 20s so obv I’m looking4
