I’ve used two space heaters in my life. Both were plugged into wall. Both melted in the plug in the wall. I don’t use space heaters anymore.

In north America its common to have extension cords and power bars only rated for 13 amps. Our breakers are rated for 15 amps.

If you plug it into the wall, the breaker trips. If you plug it into a power strip (or extension cord) that's not rated, the cord "trips".

The 12 gauge wires run off the 20A breaker can handle up to 20A but the wires inside of the power strip can be much smaller causing heat.
