I work at an assisted living / memory care home for elderly. Today, The Long Day, we are holding an event to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association.
One of the activity assistants who works with these residents also paints on the side. She painted this in 2 days. It is going to be auctioned off today - all proceeds to the Alzheimer's Association.
This piece speaks so much to me and others who care for people who begin to loose themselves and their memories to this disease. Hit me right in the feels when I saw it. Thought Imgur would appreciate it.

OP you should really check out Purple Table. It's a start-up to help people with ALZ, dimentia, PTSD, etc. go out and enjoy dinner

Alzheimer's is the disease I fear the most. Cancer, Parkinson's, motor neuron disease, at least you can still experience memories+loved ones

Great grandma died last year at 104 from natural causes. No alzheimers but in her last few months the dementia came outta nowhere HARD...

I can relate 100%. I´m sorry for your loss. Lost my grandfather 13 years ago (he died last year). My brother was 5, now 18.

My grandpa has Lewy Body Dementia, the stuff Robin Williams had, and he's been in and out of hospital

Same. It's a terrifying ailment. My grandmother has started showing memory loss and changes in personality. Everyonelse wants to ignore it.

It really is. My father hasn't had the change in personality, thankfully, but the memory loss is so hard. It can't be ignored.
