My favorite is the randomly flailing soldier that isn't on fire. He gets an A+ in my book.

When George R.R Martin runs out of characters to kill off, so he starts going after real people too.
RicheTheBuddha
Was that intentional?
owlest
the one guy on the left flailing away even thought he wasnt on fire smh
absolutvielleicht
Look at these poor guys, about to get fired
516ox
"Your motivation is that you're on fire, and you don't want to be on fire anymore" - Director, probably.
twoshady
if they are supposed to be acting like they are being burned alive... how would you know if the stunt went wrong? is there a safe word?
ishotjfktwice
The one guy not on fire at all and still acting
whitevfute
MikeAlvelais
Act like you're on fire!
STINKPICKEL
But why are the guys with fire extinguishers so damn slow? Jesus, it's like they're running in slow motion !
kiwiingaround
I like the one on the left who isn't on fire but is walking like he is.
BlueskydragonFX
Like a real soccer player.
Imalwaysready
Meh. We'll fix it in post.

"Help me Tom Cruise!"
heyitssnowing
Ricky you're not on fire!
kruttlapp
Love that he looks to be waddling back towards another guy to get lit up once he notices haha
Casparrr
Yeah that was a hilarious moment in the filming, he leant forwards slightly earlier than he was supposed to, cost heaps in the CGI that 1/?
Had to be done, everybody still gives him shit for that. A moment he will never be able to live down. 2/2

Invisible fire; it happened to Ricky Bobby...
RandomUser673
I've seen videos of race car drivers who've caught invisible fire. It's terrifying
mydogtriestoeatrocks
He's staggering from the loss of pay he just got by not catching on fire.
Nize426
"you don't get paid because you didn't catch fire" "so I'm fired?" "No, you weren't."

I just watched that scene again to see what happened to him, and he's not even in it! He was replaced by some not-on-fire soldiers.

I remember this comment from years ago, and saying last time how a little cgi could've fixed it and got shat on for the idea.
ShouldWeTellHim
You paved the way for today.
Studoku
Even less CGI fixed it by removing him.
waudey912
Extra #29. The unburnt. Misser of dragons.
NZSheeps
They can just CGI it in
Andalite
Then why force the other poor bastards to do it?
BeerChemistWhiskey
One guy in CGI fire next to a bunch actually on fire > CGI the whole deal
Do you know how much good CGI costs these days?
pilojo
Not even that, it's easy to blend CGI in to a real effect but really hard to create real looking effect with no starting point. I believe
BrokeMyFunnyBone
Fire is pretty well understood but yeah, more work and more money.
This guy was just cut out of the shot with CGI.
ButterfaceTaintClown
If his safety equipment was working properly, he likely wouldn't know whether he was on fire or not...
Yeah, he didn't realise that he didn't burn until he went to the ground.
OtterlyMagnificent
And if it's not, he'd know immediately.
Pygmyshrew
They can probably set him on fire with CGI so as long as he is doing the moves it's not a wasted shot.
Cadius
I can imagine the talk before that. "If you don't catch fire, for the love of GOD act like it."
nomisgnos
I would have screwed it up. I would have stopped, looked at the director and ask "Uhm. Redo?"
7grims
would be easier to crop him out or cgi him out, not that its his fault he didnt catch on fire :P
mytruepersonality
oddly enough one of the most dangerous parts of this is breathing. the air gets so hot that they can permanently damage their lungs.
As someone who does fire burns yes the breathing is harder but it is not hot so long as you keep moving forwards.
ssttyygg
At least my legs wouldn't get burnt after I piss my pants and my face wouldn't get burnt from the rivers of tears.
CustardBattery
Scenes like these require the stuntmen not to breathe, but this was quite a long scene with a lot of actors who could all fuck up.They didn't
That's the impressive shit that makes GoT even more enjoyable.
Porecomesis
If I ever make a show, I'll just have it animated.
AlexSomething
It probably costs more and takes more time to animate it in a way that looks real
asurito
Atleast you dont set people on fire.
RoxanneLaWin
What if they sucked an ice lolly beforehand?
CanadianPsychoo

How. In any way shape or form. Is that "Odd"? It's perfectly sensible. Skin is protected to a degree, lungs? Not so much.
scrim4
Yeah, damaging your lungs and other related internal body parts if a major part of burn wounds.
ssaberhagen
Watching this behind the scenes was awesome. They talked about that and how they timed it out for the stunt guys to fold their breath

Imprettybadatnamesandshit
If you take 5 breaths and fold them they can all fit together in your lung. And you can make it without a new breath 5 times as long.
yes thats it
Snooj
If you fold the air in half you can fit twice as much in your lungs and hold your breath twice as long.
MasterBryan
When your lungs are folded, there are less wrinkles. Less surface area for burns. Basic science.

IAmJustHereToCommentAndLaugh
The stuntmen fold their lungs for less surface area. Sometimes reinflating them can cause issues and they need pressurised air.
RepresentativeOfNorway
I'd pay good money to see that
prongrammar
Also after they folded them multiple times, their lungs become hard enough to cut steel.
HadMeSomeChickens
They should just have oxygen ta......nevermind.
SnarkySophia
There actually are special stunt tanks, but that adds another level of expertise.
domestomp
they should also keep some spare gasoline handy, just in case :)

Those little James Bond underwater gadget....
Rubber mouth piece during a fire stunt? Sounds even more dangerous.

Rebreather
Rebreathers are roughly the same size as a scuba setup. They're talking about a mini-air tank. mounted on a face mask
thatguywhoisnttoowitty
and they wouldn't be much safer. A rebreather still has a small o2 tank to top off the air that you are rebreathing, to allow full breaths
