This man knows how to do weddings right. He waited til the kids were old enough to help and enjoy the process and he went for the reasonably sized and priced set vs the $1000 massive set. Enlisting Asian child labour is debatable though.

Pfft, the registry is for both people and given to their friends and family. If he wants something from his friends or family and they want to get it for him his wife should be supportive of that and not begrudge something that brings him joy. I think you might be projecting some there. I'm sure at the very least she doesn't care and more likely is thrilled to see him enjoying things with their kids.

Registries are for both people, of course, but generally contain items that would benefit both people equally and related to helping them start in their new life together. He himself admits it was indulgent and that he needed to add a “build with kids” qualifier, since it’s an $850 opportunity cost.
Ultimately it’s not like I’m bothered, it was some light ribbing about an objectively unusual registry item. I don’t know why it needed to be taken in a “you’re just projecting” direction.

Wife and I picked out all the dishes, silverware, appliances, and other household items together. Added a few things that each of us really wanted once the necessity stuff was done. She would've absolutely LOVED if we got a massive Star Wars LEGO set: oversized sets for the Millennium Falcon, the Death Star, an X-Wing, and a Tie-Fighter were all at our Toys-R-Us that year, and yes, they were on the list. Unfortunately, we didn't get one.

It's not even the big one, it's the small one for about 160 bucks. Should be okay for an adult to occasionally spend that much on unnecessary stuff, without waiting ten years and having kids to actually have fun with it.

If you have a valid reason for putting out a gift registry, always always ALWAYS put in something you want that's unrelated. If someone gets it for you, win. If no one does, the store you registered with will be sending you coupons for stuff left on your registry and then you can get it cheaper. That's how we got our TV (wedding) and my xbox (baby).

No, no one "had" to buy us anything. Friends and family chose to because they were happy for us and wanted to help ease the transition of our changing life by removing some of the financial burden in the form of these, typically, practical gifts.

A lot of stores will give you a cashier gun to check things on to your registry as you walk through their store. Then you can send the link to your guests. That's why people say "we're registered at Target" or whatever

I was just surprised that the prices I saw for them were like 850-1000, which is as much as a some of Glocks I’ve purchased. You’d think it would be more expensive to own a gun than it would a Lego set. Not sure why I got downvoted. Or where you saw them for 200$ but link me and I’m down lol
