Officer David S. Hofer shows the human side of Police

Taken about 13 months ago, this picture of Officer Hofer shows him proposing to his girlfriend, whom he loved more than anything. True happiness is on both of their faces at the thought of spending their lives together as Husband and Wife.

That happiness has been destroyed forever. Officer Hofer was shot and killed in the line of duty on March 1, 2016 shortly after 2:47pm. He was 29 years old. And now his fiancé will now have to plan a funeral instead of a wedding. Our thoughts go out to his Fiancé, as well as his family, both blood and blue. Officer Hofer likely saved many lives at that park today, he's a true Hero.

Officer Hofer graduated from New York University in 2008. His mother though he might follow in the footsteps of his father as a scientist, but he had always wanted to be a police officer. He spent five years working for the New York Police Department's 9th Precinct before coming to Euless, TX in January 2014. In a statement following the officer's death, Euless police chief Michael Brown said: 'This community will not forget David's servant heart and dry wit.'

On March 1, 2016 Officer Hofer and another officer responded to a call of a suspicious person firing shots at J.A. Carr Park. The suspect, who I will NOT name, was reportedly high on meth and a drug addict, immediately opened fire on officers when they arrived, striking and killing Hofer. Other officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
