Roald Dahl 100

Happy 100th birthday, Roald Dahl! :D

My favorite story is the one where a man invents a machine that can hear plants...

Where's the man who get's bludgeoned to death by a frozen leg of lamb wielded by his pregnant wife?

Is it just me, or does that girl make anyone else think of... "THE WORLD, stop time!"

Where's the tattoo artist who has an original masterpiece by a famous artist tattooed on his back, and is killed and skinned for it?

He wrote some of the best children's fiction ever. His short stories are excellent too

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn I think I read all of those books.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yeah, those were my favorites when I was kid. :)

Where's Danny, the Champion of the World? I loved that book as a kid, read it so many times. A couple of pheasants in the sky would be good.

Where's the BFG?

I'm a little bummed they're making a movie because I feel like they'll ruin it. It upsets me ALMOST as much as the remake of Pete's Dragon.

And Danny!

Wasn't Dahl an anti-semite?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I think your thinking of fellow child hood icon Walt Disney.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Say what you want but that one was far closer to the book than the original we all grew up with.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

well, you could always create your own art in the style that you want. just saying.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

As someone who can't create art, i rely on others to create art exactly how i want it.

Having grown up and adored the gene wilder version, I have to admit depp's seems a little closer to the character in the book.

10 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 5

Dahl wrote the screenplay for the Wilder version.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

What? Batshit crazy, and possibly a little homosexual?

10 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 2

Dahl hated the original movie. Fought like crazy to get the Depp version made. The original movie was made to sell candy. Still great though

Irony is wilder felt the exact opposite and didn't like that depp or anyone made it again.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

He did not hate it.

I'm not trying to instigate anything. Just look up what he had to say on the movie
