Cat fucked me up pretty good yesterday...hazard of the job I guess

Right arm...it wasn’t the cat in the photo, he has no teeth.

Right palm...the top puncture is deep, the rest are superficial

Right arm...adding to my ever growing collection of scars in that area ;)

Left thumb...I can’t put much pressure on anything with it yet, but the swelling has gone down and I can move it a lot more. It doesn’t look like it, but the dot at the base of my thumb is a deep one and was very painful

Left arm...the bandaid is covering another wound from the same incident. A very nice gentleman helped clean me up and put bandaids on a couple of the spots...I appreciated the thought but I don’t think he had nearly enough little bandaids ????

Left palm. THIS is what hurts the most...they look like the smallest wounds but this is where he GROUND his teeth in and it went into the meat. I can barely move it much less hold a glass or open a bottle...was incredibly painful when it happened. Far more painful than I ever thought a cat bite could be.......... For those wondering: as a cat was being moved from a carrier to a cage he managed to get loose. It was in a large pet store and if he managed to get free he would’ve climbed high up on shelves, terrified and panicking. It happened once where the cat got loose on them in the store, he was free for a whole week. I knew this cat well before and once caught, he was NEVER his friendly old self again. So, this cat at our rescue event has squirmed free during transfer and there was a scramble of him and people trying to corner him before he got to the back of the store. I managed to grab him after the poor bastard ran head first into the glass door. He was TERRIFIED. I know this cat well, I see him daily at the shelter, but he was so scared it didn’t matter that he knew me, he struggled and scratched and bit me worse than I’ve ever seen. It was pure panic for everyone.
Once I got him, I knew I couldn’t let go, otherwise this cat might be fucked up for life. So I didn’t. With the help of another volunteer named Will, I got the cat back in the cage and once he was back at the shelter, he forgave me and we were the best of buddies once again. I told everyone we no longer transfer cats in store, so at least a valuable lesson came out of this that will hopefully prevent any more cats getting loose in the future. Yes I’m pretty sure I’ve had a tetanus shot recently, less than six months ago I think.
