1. Filming the people conducting immigration raids is illegal.
2. Filming law enforcement personnel conducting their duties is legal.
It therefore follows that the Justice Department understands the the immigration raids are not being carried out by law enforcement.

Maybe this is also why they break security cameras, Besides the existing case law about the legality of filming law enforcement. One could argue their security system is an automated machine and as such they did not film anything, lines of computer code did.

You ain't wrong, the current SC is suspect at best. That's not a decision, its a brief... I posted it because the Rutherford Institute does a great job laying out some of the historic cases about the legality of filming public servants in public spaces.
